Featherstone Foundation<\/a> and the Consular Section of the Embassy of <span class=\"xn-location\">Mexico<\/span> in <span class=\"xn-location\">Washington, D.C.<\/span> debut the <b>Featherstone College Scholarships<\/b>,\u00a0an innovative <span class=\"xn-money\">$20,000<\/span> fund designated to increase <span class=\"xn-location\">Baltimore&#8217;s<\/span> Latino enrollment and promote higher education. In fall 2018, ten Latino students will receive <span class=\"xn-money\">$2,000<\/span> merit-based awards to attend the <span class=\"xn-org\">University of Baltimore<\/span>. The application deadline is<b> <span class=\"xn-chron\">March 1, 2018<\/span>. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our partnership with the Featherstone Foundation will propel the next generation of student leaders and highlight academic excellence,&#8221; said <b>Consul <span class=\"xn-person\">Rafael Laveaga<\/span><\/b>, head of the Consular Section of the Embassy of <span class=\"xn-location\">Mexico<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is great news for the city&#8217;s high-achieving Latino students,&#8221; said <b><span class=\"xn-person\">Victoria Reid<\/span><\/b>, vice president of enrollment management and marketing at the <span class=\"xn-org\">University of Baltimore<\/span>. &#8220;UB is grateful to the Featherstone Foundation and the Embassy of <span class=\"xn-location\">Mexico<\/span> for partnering with us to make college a reality for some talented, ambitious young people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Featherstone scholarships are open to high school seniors who plan to start their first semester at the <span class=\"xn-org\">University of Baltimore<\/span>, undergraduate students transferring to UB, as well as current UB freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors. Interested students who <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/thefeatherstonefoundation.org\/college\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">meet the criteria<\/a> may <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tfaforms.com\/4646152\" rel=\"nofollow\">apply online<\/a> by the\u00a0application deadline. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Education helps level the playing field in a competitive, global landscape,&#8221; said <b>Lanaea C.
