With effort and dedication they are achieving personal and professional success in nursing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is a great source of inspiration to listen to the stories of nursing students, they remind us all, of the powerful reasons why we decided to become nurses, especially the satisfaction of making a difference in the lives of our patients,&#8221; said <span class=\"xn-person\">Angie Millan<\/span>, ex-president of NAHN, with more than 25 years of experience as a registered nurse in the <span class=\"xn-location\">Los Angeles, California<\/span> area.<\/p>\n<p>The new campaign emphasizes the importance of Latinas and Latinos interested in a career in nursing to take advantage of opportunities to volunteer, seek higher education scholarships and take math and science courses as early as possible in high school.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xn-person\">Bella Mercado<\/span>, who recently graduated from the <span class=\"xn-org\">East Los Angeles College<\/span> of Nursing, is one of the students, who shares her personal inspirational story and inspiration from the work of Mother Teresa of <span class=\"xn-location\">Calcutta<\/span>, with the sick, most needy and vulnerable children of <span class=\"xn-location\">India<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nursing school is one of the most difficult things I&#8217;ve done in my life, but now that I&#8217;m done &#8230; I&#8217;m so excited about what I&#8217;m going to do in nursing,&#8221; Bella says in one of the campaign&#8217;s videos.<\/p>\n<p>The stories are available at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hispanicsinnursing.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">www.hispanicsinnursing.org<\/a> and at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.carrerasenenfermeria.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">www.carrerasenenfermeria.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was moved by the stories of the students and how they felt inspired by the support they receive from the members of the organization (NAHN).\u00a0 We want to bring attention to these stories so that other students know they are not alone and that there is mentor database available,&#8221; said <span class=\"xn-person\">Mercy Padilla<\/span>, vice president of La Red Hispana.<\/p>\n<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/hispanicsinnursing.org\/nahn%E2%80%99s-hispanic-nursing-mentors-connection\" rel=\"nofollow\">Mentor Connection <\/a>is a NAHN tool for the recruitment and retention of the Hispanic workforce in the field of nursing.
