County of Los Angeles, No. BC361470"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<style type=\"text\/css\"><![CDATA[\n\/* Style Definitions *\/\nspan.prnews_span\n{\nfont-size:8pt;\nfont-family:\"Arial\";\ncolor:black;\n}\na.prnews_a\n{\ncolor:blue;\n}\nli.prnews_li\n{\nfont-size:8pt;\nfont-family:\"Arial\";\ncolor:black;\n}\np.prnews_p\n{\nfont-size:0.62em;\nfont-family:\"Arial\";\ncolor:black;\nmargin:0in;\n}\n]]><\/style>\n<div class=\"xn-content\">\n<p><span class=\"xn-location\">LOS ANGELES<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-chron\">June 19, 2018<\/span> \/PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE\/ &#8212; JND Class Action Administration &#8211; A <span class=\"xn-location\">Los Angeles<\/span> court has preliminarily approved a <span class=\"xn-money\">$16.9 million<\/span> class action settlement for refunds of telephone taxes collected by the County of <span class=\"xn-location\">Los Angeles, California<\/span> from <span class=\"xn-chron\">August 25, 2005<\/span> through <span class=\"xn-chron\">November 4, 2008<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p>All individuals and businesses that paid for landline telephone service with a service address within the unincorporated areas of the County of <span class=\"xn-location\">Los Angeles<\/span>, or mobile service where the billing address was within the unincorporated areas of the County of <span class=\"xn-location\">Los Angeles<\/span>, and who paid telephone tax on services utilized between <span class=\"xn-chron\">August 25, 2005<\/span> through <span class=\"xn-chron\">November 4, 2008<\/span>, and haven&#8217;t already received a refund of those taxes, are eligible to claim a refund.\u00a0 THE DEADLINE TO FILE A REFUND CLAIM IS <span class=\"xn-chron\">SEPTEMBER 15<\/span>, 2018.\u00a0 Claims for telephone tax refunds can be submitted online, at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lacountytaxrefund.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">www.LACountyTaxRefund.com<\/a>, or through the mail.\u00a0 A notice and claim form will also be mailed to current addresses in the unincorporated areas of the County of Los Angeles.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>Eligible class members have several options to file a claim, which include: (1) claim standard amounts of <span class=\"xn-money\">$27.50<\/span> for residential landline telephone service, <span class=\"xn-money\">$46.00<\/span> for business landline service, and\/or <span class=\"xn-money\">$46.00<\/span> for mobile telephone service, with no documentary evidence required; (2) submit samples of bills reflecting the telephone user taxes (&#8220;TUT&#8221;) paid during the class period to receive a refund of the actual TUT paid; or (3) if bills from the class period are not available, submit a sample of recent phone bills reflecting the TUT paid to the County to receive a refund based on recent TUT amounts.\u00a0 In addition, class members who were customers of Verizon, Sprint, or T-Mobile during the <span class=\"xn-chron\">August 25, 2005<\/span> to <span class=\"xn-chron\">November 4, 2008<\/span> time period can provide consent for those carriers to search for TUT payment records.
