The community believes <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=2513739-1&amp;h=2454097250&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Falcoholjustice.org%2Fimages%2Freports%2Freports-full%2FLATE-NIGHT-THREAT-final.pdf&amp;a=public+health+and+safety\" rel=\"nofollow\">public health and safety<\/a> is being compromised by the influence of this money. The community stands in opposition to state bill SB 58, Senator Wiener&#8217;s third attempt in three years to disrupt the protections of a statewide uniform last call by giving 10 cities, in a so-called &#8220;pilot program,&#8221; the ability to extend hours of alcohol sales in bars, restaurants and clubs. This is not a benefit to community; this is a benefit to private and corporate interests. <\/p>\n<p>In 2018, Assemblymember Gipson voted YES to pass a nearly identical version of the bill \u2013 Senator Wiener&#8217;s SB 905 &#8212; that Governor Brown vetoed, saying <i>&#8220;I believe we have enough mischief from midnight to 2 without adding two more hours of mayhem.&#8221; \u00a0<\/i>The rally is a call to action to Gipson to VOTE NO on SB 58 to better represent the children and families of the 64<sup>th<\/sup> Assembly District.
