In the first six months of the year, <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> condominiums spent an average of 69 days on the market, while townhomes spent an average of 63 days on the market.<\/p>\n<p>From <span class=\"xn-chron\">July 2018<\/span> to <span class=\"xn-chron\">June 2019<\/span>, the total dollar volume of condominiums and townhomes sold in <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> was <span class=\"xn-money\">$5,504,751,660<\/span>, with <span class=\"xn-money\">$3,224,612,082<\/span> in condominium sales and <span class=\"xn-money\">$2,280,139,578<\/span> in townhome sales.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The statistics from the Texas Condominium Sales Report prove that all types of housing in our <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> real estate market is in demand, especially more affordable options for first-time homebuyers,&#8221; said <span class=\"xn-person\">Jim Gaines<\/span>, Ph.D., chief economist with the Real Estate Center at <span class=\"xn-org\">Texas A&amp;M University<\/span>. &#8220;Although condominium and townhome sales experienced slight decreases across the major <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> markets, the increase in inventory statewide is a strong indicator of developer demand to build upwards in not only urban areas but some suburban areas as well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sales prices increased moderately for condominiums, while townhome sales prices decreased slightly. Statewide, the year-to-date median sales price as of <span class=\"xn-chron\">June 2019<\/span> was <span class=\"xn-money\">$189,000<\/span> for condominiums, an annual increase of 1.5%, and <span class=\"xn-money\">$226,000<\/span> for townhomes, an annual decrease of 1.2%. The average price-per-square foot during this time frame was <span class=\"xn-money\">$194<\/span> for condominiums and <span class=\"xn-money\">$140<\/span> for townhomes.<\/p>\n<p>Bates concluded, &#8220;From millennials to older homebuyers, condominiums and townhomes offer a turnkey lifestyle and can feature more or better amenities than a traditional single-family home. With more affordable price points, the market for these types of properties can be competitive.
