Celebration on <b><span class=\"xn-chron\">Thursday, November 7, 2019<\/span><\/b> at the City National Grove of <span class=\"xn-location\">Anaheim<\/span><b>.\u00a0 <\/b>The event is the organization&#8217;s annual fundraiser to support its scholarship program for Hispanic\/Latino youth in <span class=\"xn-location\">Orange County<\/span>, and it recognizes community leaders who positively impact the lives and education of Hispanic students.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>The 2019 HEEF Annual Celebration awarded <span class=\"xn-money\">$250,500<\/span> in scholarships to 87 recipients, representing 31 high schools in 12 Orange County school districts.\u00a0 The event also raised over <span class=\"xn-money\">$200,000<\/span> with its better-than-expected sponsor commitments and the &#8220;Fund-A-Scholar&#8221; portion of the event.\u00a0 Sponsors for this year&#8217;s event were led by <b>Angels Baseball Foundation<\/b>, with additional sponsors including <b>SVA Architects<\/b>, <b>Edison International<\/b>, <b>Union Bank<\/b>, and <b><span class=\"xn-org\">National University<\/span>, <\/b>among others.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>The dinner celebration also honored:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><b>Corporate Partner Award:<\/b> Arte &amp; <span class=\"xn-person\">Carole Moreno<\/span> via the Angels Baseball Foundation, which invests in education, healthcare, arts &amp; sciences, and community-related youth programs <\/li>\n<li><b>Community Partner Award<\/b>: Dr. Donald and Mrs. <span class=\"xn-person\">Lois Verleur<\/span>, Founders of <span class=\"xn-person\">Olive Crest<\/span>, which has transformed the lives of over 70,000 abused, neglected, and at-risk children and their families <\/li>\n<li><b>HEEF Scholar Alumnus Award:<\/b> <span class=\"xn-person\">Alex Serna<\/span>, Executive Director of Breakthrough San <span class=\"xn-person\">Juan Capistrano<\/span> (2007 HEEF Scholar) <\/li>\n<li><b>Apple of Gold for Excellence in Education:<\/b> <span class=\"xn-person\">Beau Menchaca<\/span>, Guidance Counselor from Santa Ana Unified School District;
