Touri\u00f1\u00e1n, and <span class=\"xn-person\">Celso Bugallo<\/span>, among others.<\/p>\n<p>The shooting, which lasted for 26 weeks, was done entirely on location, depicting a journey in time back to the moment when a group of secretive fishermen overnight became smugglers and ended up as <span class=\"xn-location\">Europe&#8217;s<\/span> leading drug kingpins, driven by the Colombian connection, which, via the rocky estuaries of Rias Baixas, was to inject <i>fari\u00f1a<\/i>, or flour, the cocaine that the whole continent would be snorting from that moment on. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With <b>Ram\u00f3n Campos<\/b>, <b>Teresa Fern\u00e1ndez-Vald\u00e9s, Sonia Mart\u00ednez and Carlos Sedes<\/b> as executive producers, the script features input from <b>Nacho Carretero<\/b>, under the responsibility of <b>Ram\u00f3n Campos<\/b> and <b><span class=\"xn-person\">Gema R. Neira<\/span> <\/b>themselves, along with <b>Crist\u00f3bal Garrido<\/b> and <b><span class=\"xn-person\">Diego Sotelo<\/span><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>More than <b>120 actors and over 3,000 extras <\/b>were involved in the filming of <b>&#8216;Fari\u00f1a&#8217;<\/b> during the six weeks in which shooting took place. <b>More than 300 period vehicles <\/b>were needed,\u00a0 and over <span class=\"xn-money\">10,000 pesetas<\/span> in currency had to be printed. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One of the truly outstanding features of the production was the filming of the chase scenes at night over the course of three weeks, which required <b>more than 30 vessels<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Series Synopsis<br \/><\/b>1980s. Galicia. The reform of the fisheries industry has left part of the Galician fishing fleet on dry land, and hundreds of vessel owners in debt. There is no work. In the numerous fishing villages dotting the coast of Galicia, the lack of income and daily wages is economically strangling households. It&#8217;s the perfect mix of ingredients to bring about the big transformation: former tobacco smugglers make the leap into something that&#8217;s bigger and more profitable, but also far more dangerous: drugs. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tobacco smuggling, which had somehow become deeply rooted in society over the years, makes way for drug smuggling. The local smugglers get in touch with the Colombian cartels and start to smuggle cocaine. The drug trade in the white powder \u2013 which is already moving vast amounts of money in the U.S. \u2013 reaches Galicia and, ultimately, <span class=\"xn-location\">Spain<\/span> and the rest of <span class=\"xn-location\">Europe<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p>Very soon, 80% of the cocaine arriving in <span class=\"xn-location\">Europe<\/span> will be landing on the coasts of Galicia.
