The number of condominiums sold across the state increased 41% to 17,152 sales, while townhome sales grew 36.4% to 11,508 sales. The report analyzes condominium and townhome data for the entire state as well as <span class=\"xn-person\">Austin-Round Rock<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Dallas-Fort Worth<\/span>&#8211;<span class=\"xn-location\">Arlington<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">El Paso<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Houston<\/span>&#8211;<span class=\"xn-location\">The Woodlands<\/span>&#8211;<span class=\"xn-location\">Sugar Land<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">McAllen<\/span>&#8211;<span class=\"xn-location\">Edinburg<\/span>&#8211;<span class=\"xn-location\">Mission<\/span> and <span class=\"xn-location\">San Antonio<\/span>&#8211;<span class=\"xn-location\">New Braunfels<\/span> metropolitan statistical areas. <\/p>\n<div id=\"prni_dvprnejpg9a12left\" style=\"WIDTH: 100%; TEXT-ALIGN: left\" dir=\"ltr\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"prnejpg9a12left\" title=\"Texas Association of Realtors logo. \" border=\"0\" alt=\"Texas Association of Realtors logo. \" align=\"middle\" imagelabel=\"General\" src=\"https:\/\/mma.prnewswire.com\/media\/1317682\/Texas_Realtors_Logo.jpg \"\/><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;This rapid uptick of condo and townhome sales is another great example of demand for <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> real estate. The market for these types of properties is as competitive as ever and is another strong real estate option for those who wish to live in <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span>,&#8221; said <span class=\"xn-person\">Marvin Jolly<\/span>, chairman of Texas Realtors. &#8220;Condos and townhomes are available at multiple price points and can be a great option for many entry-level homebuyers, young professionals or retirees looking for a lock-and-leave lifestyle.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Median price increased for both condominiums and townhomes. Statewide, the median condominium sales price in <span class=\"xn-chron\">June 2021<\/span> was <span class=\"xn-money\">$240,000<\/span>, a 24% increase over <span class=\"xn-chron\">June 2020<\/span>. The median sales price for townhomes was <span class=\"xn-money\">$285,000<\/span> in <span class=\"xn-chron\">June 2021<\/span>, an increase of 18.7% from the previous June. The average price-per-square-foot in <span class=\"xn-chron\">June 2021<\/span> reached <span class=\"xn-money\">$247<\/span> for condominiums and <span class=\"xn-money\">$170<\/span> for townhomes.<\/p>\n<p>Housing inventory for <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> condominiums decreased from 5.1 months of inventory in <span class=\"xn-chron\">June 2020<\/span> to 2.2 months in <span class=\"xn-chron\">June 2021<\/span>, while the inventory of townhomes decreased from 4.2 to 2.0 months. <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> condominiums spent an average of 48 days on the market in June 2021\u2014down from 71 days in June 2020\u2014while townhomes went from 63 days to 36.<\/p>\n<p>The total dollar volume of condominiums and townhomes sold in <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> between <span class=\"xn-chron\">July 2020<\/span> and <span class=\"xn-chron\">June 2021<\/span> totaled <span class=\"xn-money\">$5,067,334,976<\/span> in condominium sales and <span class=\"xn-money\">$3,423,466,353<\/span> in townhome sales.<\/p>\n<p>Jolly concluded, &#8220;Many buyers choose these types of properties for their proximity to urban areas, added amenities and low upkeep. Those and other characteristics make condos and townhomes an appealing choice to people who may not be interested in a single-family home.
