The project will reach 38 communities, focusing on those with high populations of low-income Hispanic\/Latino seniors. It will leverage the power of trained vaccine navigators\u00a0to encourage vaccination.<\/p>\n<p>In <span class=\"xn-location\">Colorado<\/span>, NCOA is partnering with <u><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=3303612-1&amp;h=3749697422&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fserviciosdelaraza.org%2F&amp;a=Servicios+de+la+Raza\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"xn-person\">Servicios de la Raza<\/span><\/a><\/u>, a trusted 40-year-old community-based organization that is educating at least 2,000 Latino older adults most in need of key information.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Culturally, the battle lies in fighting against the <i>chisme<\/i>, or stigma, and overall misinformation circulating within the community of Latino older adults,&#8221; said Executive Director <span class=\"xn-person\">Rudy Gonzales<\/span>, son of the legendary Chicano activist Rodolfo &#8220;Corky&#8221; Gonzales. &#8220;Our strategy, thought, trust, and deep appreciation for our community of older adults are in the hands of those who best know how to empower and mobilize transformational change.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xn-person\">Servicios de la Raza<\/span> is leveraging its previous experience in vaccination work\u2014with over 9,000 vaccinated to date\u2014by deploying a mobile van, tapping the expertise of a medical provider on staff, and incentivizing older adults with gift cards to participate in the program.<\/p>\n<p><b>Improving Access to Benefits<\/b><\/p>\n<p>NCOA also is connecting Hispanic\/Latino older adults to federal, state, local, and private benefits to pay for daily expenses. <u><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=3303612-1&amp;h=1552496102&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.buscabeneficios.org%2F&amp;a=BuscaBeneficios.org\" rel=\"nofollow\">BuscaBeneficios.org<\/a><\/u> is a free, confidential Spanish-language version of its respected <u><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=3303612-1&amp;h=1087275611&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.benefitscheckup.org%2F&amp;a=BenefitsCheckUp%C2%AE\" rel=\"nofollow\">BenefitsCheckUp<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/a><\/u>, which has helped millions of older adults find billions of dollars in benefits to pay for food, medicine, utilities, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past year, NCOA has connected 79,000 older Hispanics\/Latinos to benefits through our online tools, community-based partners, and job training programs.
