Care Health Plan and Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan today are holding a long-awaited ribbon-cutting ceremony inaugurating their Community Resource Center in <span class=\"xn-location\">Wilmington<\/span>, which opened to the public in early July. The new site marks the latest addition to the health plans&#8217; jointly operated Community Resource Centers, which aim to keep members and the community active, healthy, and informed.<\/p>\n<div id=\"prni_dvprnejpgd9aeleft\" style=\"WIDTH: 100%; TEXT-ALIGN: left\" dir=\"ltr\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"prnejpgd9aeleft\" title=\" \" border=\"0\" alt=\" \" align=\"middle\" imagelabel=\"General\" src=\"https:\/\/mma.prnewswire.com\/media\/1024104\/CRC_Logo.jpg \"\/><\/div>\n<p>At 13,000 square feet, the Wilmington Community Resource Center, located at 911 N. Avalon Blvd., is the largest in the network. This location is open Monday through Friday from <span class=\"xn-chron\">9 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/span> and provides select services including, connection to social services, free Wi-Fi for private telehealth consultations, support with Medi-Cal enrollment \u2013 and customer care for L.A. Care and Blue Shield Promise members. A wide range of in-person fitness and health education classes will resume once it is deemed safe by public health officials overseeing the COVID-19 pandemic response. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Delta surge may have delayed our grand opening, but it will not interfere with our commitment to serving the <span class=\"xn-location\">Wilmington<\/span> community,&#8221; said <span class=\"xn-person\">John Baackes<\/span>, L.A. And the best part is they are free for the entire community.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>One of the newest services at the Community Resource Center in <span class=\"xn-location\">Wilmington<\/span> includes a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=3307822-1&amp;h=2415080441&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Flacare.org%2Fhealthy-living%2Fcommunity-engagement%2Fcommunity-resource-centers%2Fwilmington&amp;a=weekly+food+pantry\" rel=\"nofollow\">weekly food pantry<\/a>\u00a0where everyone is welcome to pick up free groceries. The 135 square feet this mural is the largest artwork in <span class=\"xn-location\">Wilmington<\/span>. Villanueva, whose mission is to connect the community through murals, actively teaches young women to reach their full potential as artists through a program known as Posas \u2013 short for <i>mariposas<\/i>, which translates to butterflies in Spanish.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the Community Resource Center is launching its own <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=3307822-1&amp;h=900170509&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thekindnessrocksproject.com%2F&amp;a=Kindness+Rocks+Project\" rel=\"nofollow\">Kindness Rocks Project<\/a>, part of an international initiative that aims to cultivate connections within communities and uplift individuals through simple acts of kindness.
