The forum is hosted by The Health Equity Collaborative (HEC)\u00a0featuring besides Mr. Linder, <span class=\"xn-person\">Tammy Boyd<\/span> of Black Women&#8217;s Health Imperative, <span class=\"xn-person\">Amy Hinojosa<\/span> of \u00a0MANA (A National Latina Organization) and <span class=\"xn-person\">Justin Nelson<\/span> of the \u00a0National LGBT Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;Here in <span class=\"xn-location\">Austin<\/span> and across <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span>, voters authorized \u00a0public hospitals \u00a0to collect taxes to ensure the healthcare needs of the poor.\u00a0 But our investigations reveal that a number of these tax-supported institutions are falling short on this responsibility. Many overlook disadvantaged communities for money-making investments and are allocating only a portion of the taxes collected directly to charity care,&#8221; <\/i>stated <span class=\"xn-person\">Nelson Linder<\/span>, President, NAACP Austin.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;Public hospital district spending priorities have created healthcare systems that exacerbate racial inequities.
