Due to the COVID pandemic, the event will be virtual. <\/p>\n<p><b>Register<\/b>\u00a0at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=3467956-1&amp;h=225891516&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.niehs.nih.gov%2FWHAconference&amp;a=www.niehs.nih.gov%2FWHAconference\" rel=\"nofollow\">www.niehs.nih.gov\/WHAconference<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Register today for the <span class=\"xn-chron\">April 9th<\/span> event!<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s event features renowned health experts presenting the most <b>up-to-date<\/b>\u00a0information on topics of interest to communities of color. Sessions will include discussion of chronic diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, inflammation, autoimmune disorders, and dementia. Speakers also will address societal and environmental issues including Black\u00a0maternal mortality, reproductive health,\u00a0substance abuse,\u00a0domestic violence, and mental health, as well as offering coping skills for caregiving. To promote community and health resiliency for Latinx and Hispanic communities, WHA continues to provide Spanish-language resources and bilingual sessions.\u00a0Environmental health topics include COVID and its lasting complications, disaster preparedness, and systemic and environmental racism.<\/p>\n<p>WHA addresses environmental health\u00a0disparities in rural and urban communities of color.\u00a0Every year, WHA\u00a0expands its reach. This year, organizers will pilot satellite sites to reach rural communities with limited internet access. This will allow additional communities to participate in the conference from their local counties to increase healthy equity. Organizers have partnered with public health and community-based organizations to share WHA in convenient locations. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Office of Human Research and Community Engagement, led by <span class=\"xn-person\">Joan Packenham<\/span>, Ph.D., at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)\/National Institutes of Health (NIH), is the lead sponsor of this event.
