Coral Gables, FL–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–September 15, 2004–Yahoo! en español (http://yahooenespañol.com), a leading Spanish-language Internet service, brings on the beat of Latin music’s most influential artists during a five-week celebration of Hispanic heritage (September 15th – October 15th) co-hosted by LAUNCH (http://espanol.launch.com), the site’s music destination. The month-long celebration will also feature a comprehensive educational section developed in conjunction with the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), to help raise awareness among parents and children of opportunities and resources that exist for Hispanics in education. Additionally, Hispanic culture and sports icons will be on display in the promotion that will be integrated throughout the Yahoo! U.S. network, including, Yahoo!, Yahoo! en español, Yahoo! Mexico and Yahoo! Argentina.

Throughout the month, visitors to the Yahoo! en español Hispanic Heritage Month site (http://espanol.herencia.yahoo.com) will have the opportunity to win from a list of prizes, including a guitar signed by Juanes.

LAUNCH offers the more than 2.3 million U.S. Hispanics who visit the site monthly,** the largest collection of on-demand music videos on the Web from renowned and up-and-coming artists and 40 pre-programmed Internet radio stations. During Hispanic Heritage Month and beyond, LAUNCH will cover the sights and sounds of diverse Latin genres such as pop Latino, rock en español, tropical, Mexican and hip hop Latino.

Each week during the promotion, a different Latin music genre will be featured and artists such as Shakira, Alejandro Fernandez, Juanes, Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin and a host of other well known musicians will be showcased during the five week promotion through on-demand access to many of their videos already available on LAUNCH.

— Music and Videos: LAUNCH, la música in Yahoo! en espanol will showcase a different Latin genre every week during Hispanic Heritage Month. Some of the artists highlighted will include:

— Pop Latino – Shakira, Alicia Machado, Chayanne (Week of September 13th)

— Rock en español – Juanes, Mana, los Rabanes (Week of September 20th)

— Tropical – Celia Cruz, Grupo Mana, Marc Anthony (Week of September 27th)

— Mexican – Ana Gabriel, Selena, Alejandro Fernandez (Week of October 4th)

— Latino Hip-Hop – Control Machete, la Mala Rodriguez, Enemigo (Week of October 11th)

— Education/Voting: Yahoo! en español has partnered with the National Council of La Raza to inform Hispanics about educational issues, including advice for parents, scholarship listing and a reading guide for children. Additionally, the promotion will include information on NCLR’s Latino Empowerment and Advocacy Project (LEAP), which seeks to help increase Latino participation in the political process, by working with community-based organizations to promote naturalization, civic engagement, and outreach to infrequent and new voters. — Sports: Yahoo! en español’s co-branded sports site with FOX Sports en español will highlight five professional Hispanic athletes (one each week) who have been nominated for the Premios Fox Sports 2004 award, scheduled for December 2004. These athletes hail from the world of soccer, car racing, tennis, basketball and baseball. Visitors will be able to read about their favorite athlete’s background and accomplishments and share information with other users.

— Prizes: A guitar signed by Juanes (courtesy Universal Records) along with several signed CDs and other merchandise.

— Search: Visitors can use Yahoo! Search to find additional information on Hispanic Heritage month, including relevant sites, photos or news stories.
