MIAMI, July 11 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Yahoo! today announced that it has joined forces with MTV Latin America to kick off Blog & Rock, a Yahoo! online promotion in which users are invited to share personal song-worthy stories by logging on to mtvla.yahoo.com from July 14 through August 11, 2008.
The selected story, which will be voted on by users from August 11 through 24 and revealed the week of September 1, will serve as inspiration for a new song to be performed by Chilean singer and former La Ley frontman Beto Cuevas on MTV’s “Los 10+ Pedidos” show scheduled to air this October.
“MTVN is proud to once again partner with Yahoo! in creating exciting, compelling content that engages Latin American youth through an online experience that translates into a unique, once-in-a-lifetime on-air opportunity with one of the region’s most iconic music legends, Beto Cuevas,” said Corinna Keller, vice president of International Marketing Partnerships. “Given Yahoo!’s reach and relevance in the region among youth, we are very excited to bring to life a viewer’s story on air in one of our most viewed and popular shows, Los 10+ Pedidos.”
Due to the great success of Yahoo’s partnership with MTV last year, the companies are reprising their relationship for 2008 starting with the Blog & Rock promotion and leading up to Los Premios MTV Latin America 2008 awards show.
“Many of our users throughout Latin America consider music to be a key motivator in their daily lives, and Blog & Rock provides them with a unique opportunity to turn the tables and potentially make their personal stories the source for inspiration for the next big lyrical hit,” said Jose Rivera Font, vice president and general manager, Yahoo! Hispanic Americas.
Aside from bragging rights, the author of the song-worthy story will also win a trip to the 2008 Los Premios MTV Latin America show to be held in Guadalajara, Mexico, and scheduled for broadcast on October 16, 2008. Yahoo! is the exclusive online partner of Los Premios MTV Latin America 2008.
“Promotion such as Blog & Rock underscores our commitment to providing users in Latin America with ongoing opportunities to share their passions and engage with a broader online community,” added Rivera Font.
