Telcordia Service Interconnection Community honored for delivering exceptional IP communications solutions
Piscataway, NJ–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–September 25, 2007–Telcordia Technologies announced today that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) has named the Telcordia Service Interconnection Community as the recipient of the 2007 INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award presented by INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine (http://www.itmag.com).
“We are proud to present Telcordia with a 2007 INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award. The Telcordia Service Interconnection Community has positioned itself to support cost-effective, timely deployment of IP communications,” indicated Rich Tehrani, Editor-in-Chief of INTERNET TELEPHONY.
“For converged technologies and services to ultimately be successful, they must see significant increases in adoption – an essential and obvious element for continued progress in this space,” said Richard Jacowleff, President, Interconnection Solutions, Telcordia. “The Telcordia Service Interconnection Community accelerates the deployment and adoption of converged services by enabling and facilitating IP service interconnection – thereby clearing a major obstacle that emerges when trying to deploy and interconnect complicated networks. This recognition by TMC reinforces Telcordia’s commitment to meeting operators’ business challenges where interconnection and interoperability are key for their success.”
Launched earlier this year, the Service Interconnection Community is a member-based and results-driven initiative that helps to accelerate the deployment of IP-based converged services, such as VoIP. By ensuring that service elements from different member companies interwork with the Telcordia(R) Service Interconnection Registry through interoperability testing, the Service Interconnection Community helps to reduce operators’ integration costs of deploying converged services. Currently, VoIP and IMS-enabled communications that originate on an IP network have to be routed via the PSTN for call completion, which means that service providers will not achieve end-to-end IP services. IP service interconnection with Telcordia Service Interconnection Registry allows service providers to interconnect via IP to deliver VoIP, IMS, and other converged services, while enabling them to migrate seamlessly from PSTN to IP.
“Taking risks to advance VoIP technology and provide real solutions has earned Telcordia recognition from the editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY and an INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award,” said Greg Galitzine, Editorial Director of INTERNET TELEPHONY. The Service Interconnection Community has excelled in providing operators with the opportunity to employ pre-integrated routing administration capabilities in their networks using the Telcordia Service Interconnection Registry.”
