NEW YORK, Aug. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Beyond Type 1, an international Type 1 diabetes non-profit, will continue online expansion with the launch of the Spanish version of their website, Beyond Type 1 en Español.

After recognizing insufficiency in the current resources available to the underserved Hispanic diabetes community, the foundation decided to launch Beyond Type 1 en Español.

The foundation consistently strives to provide resources globally for all people impacted by Type 1 diabetes and in June, acquired a number of digital properties from the Diabetes Hands Foundation, becoming the new home for both TuDiabetes.org and EsTuDiabetes.org – both focused on serving the diabetes community, with EsTuDiabetes.org being the first and largest Hispanic diabetes community.

The launch of Beyond Type 1 en Español is another exciting way to develop educational programs and content accessible for Spanish-speaking people living with Type 1 in the US and abroad. In addition to translating relevant pre-existing content, Beyond Type 1 en Español has and will continue to develop unique content for the Spanish-speaking Type 1 population, while also providing opportunities to join in education and advocacy efforts.

Mila Ferrer, who joined Beyond Type 1 in June as the Director of Programs from the Diabetes Hands Foundation, will spearhead the Beyond Type 1 en Español launch. Ferrer says, “The Hispanic community is being affected by diabetes, in all its types, very aggressively. As a member of this community, and as one of those affected Hispanic families, I have always sought to create and identify places of support and useful information to improve our quality of life. Launching Beyond Type 1 en Español is a tremendous achievement as it gives us the ability to help millions of people who are looking for vital information to live better and healthier lives with diabetes. For me, it is a personal commitment, and to see the passion and dedication with which Beyond Type 1 works, makes it clear that our mission is in good hands.”

Beyond Type 1 was founded in 2015 by Juliet de Baubigny, Nick Jonas, Sarah Lucas and Sam Talbot, and is a new brand of philanthropy leveraging the power of social media and technology, changing what it means to live with a chronic disease. With a focus on education, advocacy, and the path to a cure, Beyond Type 1 has developed a broad ranging portfolio of grantees and programs aimed at improving the lives of people impacted by Type 1 diabetes, including the launch of Beyond Type 1 en Español.
