Global Futbol Icon Pavel Pardo

PLANO, Texas, March 27, 2015 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ —  Following a mischievously successful debut last year, the Cheetos brand today announced the triumphant return of its Los Cheetahs trick soccer team for a nationwide tour and action-packed 2015. In partnership with the Mexican National Team’s annual U.S. Tour, Los Cheetahs looks to up its game this year in the soccer … or shall we say fútbol … arena. This insanely talented team of trick fútbol players combines athleticism, theater and comedy — a spectacle only fitting for the most popular sport in the world and the most mischievous brand. The tour kicks off on March 28 in Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum with global fútbol icon Pável Pardo.

The Cheetos brand unveiled Los Cheetahs to the world in 2014 earning critical acclaim and a loyal fan base. In gripping fashion, Los Cheetahs topped their archrivals Los Jefes to finish the 2014 season undefeated, with Mexican fútbol legend Jorge Campos at the helm. A Los Cheetahs match is not an average soccer experience — the mischievous players encourage audience participation and interaction with tricks throughout the entire event. This year, in addition to the Los Angeles event, Los Cheetahs will take on Los Jefes in exhibition matches prior to Mexican National Team tour matches in Kansas City on March 31; Orlando on June 27; with additional markets to be announced at a later date.

“After an incredibly successful first year, we wanted to share our Cheetos brand soccer team with more fans,” said Jeff Klein, vice president of marketing, Frito-Lay North America. “Our partnership with the Mexican National Team brings Los Cheetahs to more fútbol fans in more markets and allows us to continue building the team’s mischievous style of play with fan input. These matches and events are fun opportunities for families to connect with each other and the Cheetos brand through a sport we all love. They are also a great stage for fans to show us their Los Cheetahs-worthy moves.”

Pardo, a global fútbol icon formerly with the Mexican National Team, Club América and Chicago Fire, was so impressed by the team’s stylish victory over Los Jefes last year; he knew it was an opportunity he wanted to pursue. “Los Cheetahs are known for their fun, mischievous spin on fútbol, a sport and passion that is woven into almost every aspect of my life,” he said.  “I’m fired up to be joining this team on a path to greatness.”
