SACRAMENTO, California, Aug. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC)/CONEL announced today that evangelist Rev. “The NHCLC has worked with Convoy of Hope for many years, but this new partnership will help take the collaboration to another level,” said Tony Suarez, Executive Vice President of the NHCLC/CONEL. “Our members will now be able to find new ways to serve their communities and individuals around the world with Convoy of Hope’s help.”

Convoy of Hope has helped more than 70 million people who are impoverished, hungry, hurting and without Christ through their Children’s Feeding Program, Disaster Services, Agricultural Initiative, Women’s Empowerment Program, Community Events and Partner Resourcing Program.

“Dr. Rodriguez continually emphasizes the cross is both vertical and horizontal. The vertical is our continual pursuit of a real, authentic, vibrant relationship with God. The horizontal is our call to action by showing the love of God through compassionate acts of kindness,” Rentz said. “It is our responsibility to feed the poor; provide clean water; respond to disasters with needed supplies; train farmers to grow organically and increase the yield of their crops; and train women to start and sustain a business so they can break the cycle of poverty in their generation. That’s the power of partnership and compassion.”

In the role of Vice President of Compassion for NHCLC/CONEL, Rentz will work to find tangible ways for the NHCLC and Convoy of Hope to serve those home and abroad, offering compassion and sharing the love of God.

“I am thrilled and honored to help expand the relationship between Convoy of Hope and NHCLC/CONEL, impacting the world around us in bigger ways than we thought possible,” said Rentz. “Through this partnership we will be able to feed more people, provide job training more women around the world, additional disaster relief aid, and bring more people out of the cycle of poverty.”

NHCLC/CONEL emphasizes “7 Directives” of Life, Family, Compassionate Evangelism, Stewardship, Justice, Education and Youth —all of which are in line with the strengths of Convoy of Hope and its outreach in the United States and around the globe.

NHCLC/CONEL is the world’s largest Hispanic Christian organization. It serves as a representative voice for the more than 100 million Hispanic Evangelicals assembled in over 40,000 U.S. churches and another 500,000 congregations spread throughout the Spanish-speaking diaspora. The organization seeks to reconcile Evangelist Billy Graham’s message of salvation through Christ with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s march of prophetic activism.
