LOS ANGELES, Feb. 27, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — In a time of dire need for immigrants everywhere filled with fear and despair, the Curacao Foundation – a non-profit organization founded in 2002 by Hispanic-centric retailer Curacao – steps up and and will host “Estamos con Ustedes” (“We are With You”) a fundraising Concert and Immigration Fair in partnership with leading migrant rights organization El Rescate, Tu Vision Foundation and a diverse coalition of community organizations in support of the migrant caravan.
For the past few months, thousands of non-recognized refugees from Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and other countries began their perilous trek towards the United States in seek of asylum, facing dangerous situations and putting their lives at risk as they crossed Central America and Mexico. Currently, there are over 2,000 stranded migrants in Tijuana, Baja California and Mexico in dire need of shelter, clothing, food, medicines and legal representation in order to assist them in the process of applying for asylum in the United States.
In response to this humanitarian crisis and to alleviate the ongoing suffering of migrant children and their parents, Curacao Foundation and its partners are inviting the public to attend the “Estamos con Ustedes” (“We are With You”) Fundraising Concert and Immigration Resource Fair, which will offer free legal counsel and other community related services and feature performances by popular Latino singer Bebe Coronel (Vestido, Morena) as well as Folkloric Ballets from Mexico, Chile and El Salvador and other performances that will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 10 AM to 6 PM at the parking lot of the Curacao store located on 1605 W. Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles 90015, California.
With its efforts, the Curacao Foundation, El Rescate and Tu Visión Foundation hope to raise $100,000 that will help provide thousands of migrants with the resources they need to face a long and difficult road ahead.
Everyone is encouraged to make a minimum suggested donation of $5 per person at the concert. One hundred per cent of the donation proceeds will go directly to the non-profit organizations at the forefront of seeking solutions to the current immigration crisis.
“The ‘Estamos con Ustedes’ (‘We are With You’) concert comes at a time when Latino immigrants are struggling to get their most basic human rights acknowledged and respected in the United States. And this fundraising effort is yet another demonstration of Curacao’s long history of support to a community that requires acknowledgement for their valuable contribution to this nation, community support and solidarity,” Curacao Foundation’s Director Sophia Cortez said.
The “Estamos con Ustedes” (“We are With You”) Fundraising Concert and Immigration Resource Fair is one of the multiple events held by the Curacao Foundation to support the Hispanic community throughout the year. With this and other initiatives, Curacao continues strengthening its commitment to millions of Hispanic families and millennials across Southern California.
