SPARTANBURG, S.C., Sept. 30, 2025 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — This Hispanic Heritage Month, Denny’s is celebrating heritage in a personal way. The brand is introducing the Peace in Rest mug, a limited-edition design created by Texas high school student Atlas Castro, the son of Denny’s associate creative director.

Atlas’s design shows a skeleton in a sombrero, a Denny’s mug in hand, in a style that nods to Mexican folk art. The design brings a playful energy to a cultural tradition while also carrying Atlas’s personal perspective as a young artist.

Available exclusively at DinerDrip.com for $10, proceeds from the sales of the Peace in Rest mug will go toward funding Denny’s Hungry for Education scholarship program.

“I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember, using art to tell stories inspired by what I learn and experience,” said Atlas Castro. “For this piece, I drew from the work of Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada and from my own family’s culture. I wanted it to reflect the beauty and traditions that are at the heart of Hispanic heritage.”

“At Denny’s, being America’s Diner has always been about more than a meal, it’s about connection,” said Ellie Doty, Senior Vice President and Chief Brand Officer at Denny’s. “This collaboration feels especially meaningful because it started with one of our own. Atlas’s design is a celebration of heritage and creativity, and what makes it even more powerful is that every mug sold helps another student write their own story and pursue their dreams.”

The Peace in Rest mug began with Atlas’s vision, and now it carries forward that creativity by helping students nationwide pursue their education. Since its launch in 2011, Denny’s Hungry for Education scholarship program has awarded more than $2.7 million in scholarships to more than 650 students nationwide. In partnership with more than 30 national non-profits, the program not only helps students continue their education but also empowers them to create ideas that bring communities together.
