MIAMI, Sept. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Friends of St. Jude (FOSJ) Miami, the young professionals group dedicated to raising awareness and funding for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, invites the South Florida community to the 9th Annual International Dermatology It’s All About the Kids signature event, presented by the Andrés Asion Foundation. This year’s event will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the JW Marriott Marquis in downtown Miami and will have a Havana Retro theme.

“We are excited to host another successful event, to ensure children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases can receive the treatment and care they need,” said Desiree Valls, FOSJ-Miami Executive Committee Chair. Thanks to our partners and South Florida’s ongoing support, Friends of St. Jude Miami has raised more than $1 million over the past nine years to help ensure that no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for their treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

This year, we will have the honor of recognizing the Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of iHeartLatino, community activist and philanthropist, Enrique Santos with the “St. Jude Stephan Gutierrez Award.” His dedication to the mission of St. Jude has been exemplary and worthy of recognition.

“I support St. Jude because I have seen firsthand the lifesaving work and research that takes place. Work and research that would be impossible without support and donations,” said Enrique Santos. “All kids deserve a chance in life and cancer has impeded that for way too many. By supporting St. Jude we support life.”

The event will feature a tasting menu and cocktails, as well as entertainment by DJ Pete Diaz accompanied by the fun beats of the Bongos. This year’s hosts include award-winning journalist and anchor of Univision Network’s news-magazine show Primer Impacto Pamela Silva Conde and WPLG Local 10’s, Victor Oquendo. Among the noted celebrity attendees are artists, television and radio personalities: Lili Estefan, Carlos Ponce, Barbara Bermudo, Sofia Lachapelle, Ana Quincoces, Enrique Santos, Vanessa Goncalves, Gloria Ordaz, Jorge Bernal, Karla B., Adamari Lopez, Adrianne Calvo, Alberto Sardiñas among others.

“I’ve had the pleasure to witness first-hand, the great work that St. Jude does for their patients and their families,” said Silvia Trinidad, CEO of International Dermatology. “I am wholeheartedly committed to St. Jude and their tireless work in the advancements of cancer research and treatment for the children.”

For the first-time this year, guest will be able to enjoy our signature drink, “YOLO-Make a Difference,” which was inspired by Andres Asion.

“St. Jude is the last hope for children suffering from the rarest forms of childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases, where the protocol for treatment has not been established yet,” said Andres Asion. “Although St. Jude is sent the toughest cases, it has the world’s best survival rates and are at the forefront of developing new treatment options that are then shared freely with hospitals around the world.”

International Dermatology will serve as the event’s title sponsor for the eighth consecutive year and our presenting sponsor, for the past six years, is the Andres Asion Foundation. Other sponsors include: Stephan Gutierrez and family, Goya Foods, Gary Nadar, Medina Family Foundation, Comcast, The Valls Family, LAAD, Zoological WRep. Erik Fresen, Academica, Cesar & Pamela Conde, La Carreta, Garrido Foundation, Henry Parra, Braman Honda, Wolfington Companies, Sazon, Randy Borges and Julien Diaz.
