WASHINGTON, Feb. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) will hold a national summit on Hepatitis C at the Rayburn House Office Building, Room B354 on February 11, 2016 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm for our public and private partners. The summit is to increase awareness on the importance of Hepatitis C, and how to better inform the Hispanic communities.
Hepatitis C is projected to be an epidemic that will impact a greater number of people than HIV, and will be seen in Hispanics at a younger age with complications such as liver cancer.
The summit will discuss barriers of current healthcare programs that affect Hispanics with Hepatitis C, strategies needed for future health care programs for Hispanics with Hepatitis C, and build consensus on Federal programs and policies to improve quality health care to Hispanics with Hepatitis C over the next five years.

NHMA is proud to convene this summit with our public and private partners to come up with innovative ideas to bring awareness to our community. We want our doctors and advocates to increase testing among the Hispanic population and communicate effectively with their Hispanic patients.”
