Over 8,000 People Celebrate Latin Music And Dance At The 2017 Goya Foods New York International Salsa Congress

From novice to professional dancers, the festival attracts people from all walks of life to establish a sense of community, to gain exposure to different styles of dance and to achieve a higher level of knowledge and expression while sharing the true passion for Latin music and dance. “Goya Foods has always been much more than a food company; we are about giving back to the community and honoring our Latin culture, roots and heritage,” said Rafael Toro, Director of Public Relations of Goya Foods. “Goya is proud to become the title sponsor of this great event while bringing together people from all over the world through music, dance and good food!”

The official kick-off party will be held at Iguanas NYC, located at 240 West 54th Street at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.  T-Mobile will host a free welcome dance party from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the T-Mobile flagship store in Times Square.  “Telemundo 47 is proud to be the exclusive media partner for The New York International Salsa Congress which will bring thousands of fans from around the world right here to New York City. We look forward to offering our viewers coverage of this popular celebration of Latino culture,” said Cristina Schwarz, President and General Manager of Telemundo 47.

The festivities will continue with over 60 multi-level group workshops for styling, partner work, shines, and more taught each day by world-renowned dance instructors, two 10-hour Salsa or Bachata boot camps, evening performances by world-renowned dance teams and couples, and a youth performance showcase on Saturday afternoon.  Each night, attendees will enjoy LIVE music by Avenida B, one of New York’s hottest salsa bands (Friday, September 1), the internationally renowned Johnny Ray “Salsa con Clase”, celebrating over 40 years of sensational salsa classics (Saturday, September 2), and one of the most famous salsa bandleaders of all time, Bobby Valentin and his entire orchestra direct from Puerto Rico (Sunday, September 3).  The party continues with social dancing every evening until 3:00 a.m. to DJs playing the best in Salsa, Bachata and Cha-Cha-Cha, along with a shopping experience of unique vendors selling NYISC apparel and gear, dance clothing, shoes, accessories as well as a beauty and health bar for massages, hair, makeup and nails.
