WASHINGTON, July 29, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — President Barack Obama has appointed Juan Carlos Iturregui of Maryland to serve as Vice-Chair of the board of directors of the Inter-American Foundation. He was confirmed on November 19, 2015, by the United States Senate.
Mr. Iturregui specializes in business, regulatory, and public policy issues affecting the Americas. More specifically, he works very closely with decision makers and sponsors in the U.S. and various Latin American countries to promote business initiatives, investments, closer hemispheric links and public-private sector partnerships.
Mr. Iturregui is a Senior Advisor at Dentons, LLP, working with leadership on strategic projects. He is the current Vice-Chair of the American Red Cross, National Capital Region. He served as a past Member of the President’s Export Council (PEC), the nation’s top advisory panel on international trade and overseas markets. He continues to promote more private sector development and investments in the Caribbean and Latin America, with a focus on renewable energy and infrastructure projects. Earlier in his career, he worked in the US Congress. He also dedicated several years at an NGO working on behalf of migrants and refugees.
The Inter-American Foundation, an independent agency of the U.S. government, was created by Congress in 1969 to provide development assistance directly to the organized poor in Latin America and the Caribbean. It invests in locally-led initiatives proposed by grassroots groups working to help their communities thrive.
