MIAMI, June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — eMerge Americas, the technology conference that connects revolutionary startups, cutting-edge ideas, global industry leaders and investors, rounded out its first day of programming yesterday with an impressive display of keynotes. The conference opened with keynote, Steve Wozniak, while many startup companies showed off their new technology and applications to potential investors.
The purpose of this conference is to bring together global industry investors and leaders with local startups and the Miami community to help transform Miami into the technological hub of the Americas. As Miami Beach Mayor, Phillip Levine stated in his opening remarks, Miami is “truly becoming a high-tech innovation capital.”
“Our first day of eMerge Americas was an enormous success, with unforgettable keynotes and presentations, and out-of-this world technologies that are disrupting all industries around the world,” said Xavier Gonzalez, CEO of eMerge Americas. “The buzz around eMerge, and Miami, was very high, as everyone was excited to learn from influencers and startup companies about what kind of innovative ideas they have to shape the future of their industry.”
Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple and well-known tech entrepreneur opened the keynote sessions with the story of how he got to where he is and where he believes the tech industry is going. When speaking on artificial intelligence, Wozniak added, “Let humans participate as much as we can and the machines just enhance what we know. There are places where it (artificial intelligence) will cut jobs, but society works itself towards an equilibrium where most people will end up with jobs.”
In addition, Marcelo Claure, CEO of Sprint and co-founder of Brightstar Corp, talked about eMerge Americas being a staple of the Miami tech industry. And as Francesca de Quesada Covey, Head of Platform Partnerships, Facebook LATAM stated, “Miami is that bridge city, it is the city that brings the region (Latin America) together. When we think of innovation in Miami, we think about the opportunity to bridge the entrepreneurial mindset with the needs of the community.”
Armando Christian Perez (Pitbull) and Suze Orman, two-time Emmy Award-winning television host and personal finance expert, sat down for a conversation to discuss their professional journey and perspective on technology.
