WASHINGTON, Nov. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation has named Elva Lima, former Global Diversity and Inclusion Director for Verizon Communications, as its interim Executive Director effective Monday, November 27, 2017. Lima will oversee all Foundation operations on an interim basis until the Foundation concludes its search for an executive to fill the role permanently.
“The USHCC Foundation is proud to welcome Elva Lima to our team,” said USHCC Foundation Board Chairman Nina Vaca. “She brings a wealth of experience in advocacy and governance to this role both from the corporate and nonprofit sectors. I have the highest trust in her ability to oversee the Foundation’s operations and to deliver the outstanding programs and services for which the Foundation is known.”
Lima served in several key positions during her tenure with Verizon Communications that made her an ideal candidate for this role. Recently, as Global Diversity and Inclusion Director, she oversaw a multimillion dollar budget and partnered with the Verizon Foundation to help increase the Foundation’s focus on diverse and underrepresented communities. Previously, while serving as External and Government Affairs Director she managed and invested nearly $9 million in annual charitable giving and played a key role in developing strong relationships with minority organizations and leaders.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue the growth and expansion of the Foundation and its many programs and services,” said Lima. “I have long admired the Foundation and its accomplishments. It is an honor to lead the efforts of an organization that champions Hispanic businesses and entrepreneurs.”
Lima’s primary focus is to ensure that the Foundation continues supporting the next generation of Hispanic businesses and entrepreneurs. To this extent, Lima has been working with the Foundation’s board to put processes and a transition plan in place and coordinating with staff from the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on the plan. Lima is also working with the board and leading the search committee to find a permanent Executive Director for the Foundation.
Lima holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management.
