Both individual and teams of artists living in The Bahamas are invited to apply for consideration with mural, sculpture, musical or performance submissions. The first round of selections will be announced in April, and the final selections will be revealed in May. Final selections will be installed at the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island by July 2025, with a grand unveiling in December 2025.

Year-to-date sales totaled 67,219 vehicles sold; an increase of 6.7 percent compared to the same time last year. With 24 selling days in February, compared to 25 the year prior, the company posted an increase of 6.8 percent on a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis.

As part of its commitment to sustainable programs with long-term impact, through the Way Forward Fund, Toyota is investing in and collaborating with the traumatic brain injury (TBI) care community to address gaps in TBI funding for children and help support health equity to strengthen the recovery journey for kids, families, and caregivers.

The current round of funding expands the focus on bolstering community resources. The Fund’s goal is to serve as a connector between experts and organizations for continuous improvement of TBI care.

More than $4 million in grants was made available in this most recent round of grants and sponsorships to the selected institutions, with an emphasis on raising the quality of healthcare in communities with the greatest need.

According to National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), TBI is a major pediatric health condition that is often under-recognized and urgent and long-term care resources for TBI are often under-resourced.

A federal court has decided that this lawsuit should be a class action on behalf of several “classes,” or groups of people, that could include you. The Court has not decided who is right. There is no money available now and no guarantee there will be. 

What is this case about?

The lawsuit claims that Amex has rules or provisions in its merchant agreements that do not allow merchants who accept American Express cards for payment to “steer” or encourage customers to pay with a different card that may charge the merchant a lower fee. Merchants then raise their prices to cover the Amex fee and charge all customers the same price. Therefore, customers who do not use an Amex card to make purchases end up paying more money than they would have without these rules. 

Amex denies these claims and that it did anything wrong. The lawyers for the classes will have to prove their claims in Court.

  • Debit-card classes: if you are a person who is a Visa or Mastercard debit card holder, and you, or an authorized user, used this debit card to purchase a good or service from one or more Qualifying Merchants in Alabama, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oregon, or Utah. Your account address and the purchase made had to be in the same state and in Alabama, the District of Columbia, Maine, North Carolina, Oregon, or Utah from January 29, 2015, to June 1, 2022, or in Kansas, Illinois, or Mississippi from January 29, 2016, to June 1, 2022.
  • Non-rewards credit-card classes: if you are a person who is a card holder of a Visa, Mastercard, or Discover general purpose credit or charge card that does not offer credit card rewards or charge an annual fee, and you, or an authorized user, used this card to purchase a good or service from one or more Qualifying Merchants in the District of Columbia, Kansas, or Illinois. Your billing address and the purchase made had to be in the same state and in the District of Columbia from January 29, 2015, to June 1, 2022, or in Kansas or Illinois from January 29, 2016, to June 1, 2022.

Who represents the Classes?

The Court has appointed a group of attorneys to represent the classes as “Class Counsel.”  You don’t have to pay Class Counsel or anyone else to participate. Instead, if Class Counsel gets money or benefits for the classes, they will ask the Court for attorneys’ fees and costs. If approved, these fees and costs would be deducted from any money obtained or paid separately by Amex. You may hire your own lawyer to appear in Court for you, but if you do, you have to pay that lawyer. 

What are your options?

To stay in the classes, you do not have to do anything.  If money or benefits are obtained, you will be notified about how to ask for a share.  If you want to keep your rights to sue Amex on your own about the claims in this lawsuit, you need to exclude yourself.  If you exclude yourself, you cannot get money or benefits from this lawsuit if any are awarded.  You can find out how to exclude yourself at the website or by calling the toll-free number.  The deadline to exclude yourself is May 2, 2025.

Many of these scammers are demanding immediate payment via web-based electronic payment services. PSEG Long Island does not accept external, web-based electronic payment services (outside of payments through PSEG Long Island’s My Account, mobile app and text) as a method of payment.

What customers should know about payment scams

  • Scammers impersonating PSEG Long Island most frequently threaten to shut off power immediately unless payment is made.
  • Many scammers use phone “spoofing” technology to make their number display on your phone as “PSEG Long Island.”
  • PSEG Long Island will never request that customers use one specific method of payment.
  • Scammers typically want their victims to transfer money via a web-based electronic payment service, a prepaid debit card, or even Bitcoin, sometimes asking people to buy a prepaid card at the nearest convenience store and then to read them the PIN over the phone.
  • PSEG Long Island does not accept web-based electronic payment services, prepaid debit cards or Bitcoin as payment.
  • Sometimes phone scammers will demand a deposit for a priority meter installation. PSEG Long Island does not require a deposit for meter installations.
  • If a customer has doubts about the legitimacy of a call or an email — especially one in which payment is requested — they should call the company directly at 1-800-490-0025.

In-person visits
Occasionally, scammers may go door to door impersonating PSEG Long Island employees, flashing a fake ID and/or claiming to be a utility collection representative. The impostors may wear “uniforms” or affix false company signs to their vehicles. The scammers generally ask for personal information, which real utility representatives do not do, or offer bogus discounts. Again, if customers have any doubts, they should not let the person in, and should call 1-800-490-0025 to verify.

PSEG Long Island employees must carry a company ID and present it when requested. If customers have doubts, do not let the person into the house and call 1-800-490-0025 to have a customer service representative verify that an employee has been dispatched to the location. An actual PSEG Long Island employee will respect the customer’s decision and remain outside. If the person escalates their efforts to enter the home, customers should consider calling 911.

Fake websites
Some scammers purchase web domains that closely resemble the actual URL of a utility and create a fraudulent replica of the legitimate website. Their plan is to dupe users who click on these fake sites via search results, or type in an inaccurate web address. Once on the spoofed site, a visitor is presented a number of bill payment options, all pointing back to an outside bill pay site.

How actual PSEG Long Island reps handle phone calls
Customers should also know what PSEG Long Island will and won’t discuss over the phone. A genuine PSEG Long Island representative will ask to speak to the Customer of Record. If that person is available, the representative will explain why they are calling and provide the account name, address and current balance. If the person on the phone does not provide the correct information, it is likely the customer is not speaking with a PSEG Long Island representative.

If the Customer of Record is not available, the PSEG Long Island representative will not discuss the account at all and ask that a message be left for the Customer of Record to call 1-800-490-0025.
