After Hurricane Harvey, ¡Vive Tu Vida! Get Up! Get Moving!® Brings Needed Services and Day of Family Fun to Houston

HOUSTON, Nov. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — This Saturday, November 4, 2017, the National Alliance for Hispanic Health and the Hispanic Health Coalition present the 11th Annual ¡Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving!® in Houston, Texas. The event promotes physical activity and good nutrition in the Hispanic family for better health and wellness for people of all ages and sizes.

“For eleven years, ¡Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving!, has provided nutrition education, free health screenings and wellness activities to communities across the nation,” said Dr. Jane L. Delgado, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health, the nation’s leading Hispanic health advocacy group. “We are grateful and proud of the work and energy of all our partners and hundreds of volunteers that make these events such a success and celebration of family, culture, and health.”

“We are so proud to be celebrating our 11th year having this event in Mason Park. This community is very interested in knowing how to stay healthy,” said Daisy Morales, Hispanic Health Coalition board member and event committee chair. We have individuals that come every year to get their flu shots and high blood pressure screenings. Last year we did 200 flu shots, 80 eye exams and 300 blood/glucose screening. Legacy Health Clinic was there and helped individuals schedule appointments with a doctor, if the screenings showed that a doctor follow up was advisable. It feels good to know that every year the health screening help individuals get medical attention that they need.
