Out of all those who began treatment, 100% completed the drug treatment process without quitting, and one year after being discharged, 87% of them achieved a successful outcome.

TAVAD, Advanced Addiction Treatments, reports the annual results achieved in patients treated for cocaine addiction who completed their treatment in 2014.

TAVAD has had a transparency policy for over 20 years, during which time it has analysed and published patients’ treatment results every year. Since it published its first results in 1998, in partnership with the Health Technology Assessment Agency of the Carlos III Health Institute, the data obtained has been made available to researchers, scientists and doctors on the centre’s website.

The treatment provided to cocaine addicts involves an initial 48-hour hospital stay during which the neurones damaged by cocaine consumption are neuroregulated as part of an intensive pharmacological and physiotherapeutic procedure.

After the hospital stay, each patient receives the medical, psychological and pharmacological follow-up and support he or she needs for one year.

According to Dr. Legarda, who has directed TAVAD since 1988, “The results are excellent. Retention rates and the clinical depression and anxiety data are improving significantly, which also points to an improvement in quality of life.”
