LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — As part of a commitment to building healthier communities, CVS Health (NYSE: CVS) celebrated the expansion of its annual Project Health free health screening campaign with a community event that took place on Thursday, September 19th at CVS Pharmacy, 2011 E. La Palma Ave., Anaheim. Thursday’s event was one of 93 free health screenings taking place in the Los Angeles area between now and the end of the year.

Douglas Chang, Region Director for CVS Health; Alex Gold, District Leader for CVS Health; LA Clippers power forward Mfiondu Kabengele; and State Senator Ling Ling Chang attend a Project Health event on Thursday, September 19. Thursday’s event was one of 93 free health screenings taking place in the Los Angeles area between now and the end of the year. Through Project Health, CVS Health has donated over $27 million worth of free medical services in California since 2007.

State Senator Ling Ling Chang and LA Clippers power forward Mfiondu Kabengele were on hand at the event, along with community members and CVS Pharmacy field leadership to discuss the importance of being proactive about your health, eating well and not smoking.

“As a legislator, I’ve made it a priority to improve access to preventative care, and I’m grateful to work with CVS Health to bring free health screenings to my constituents in Anaheim,” said Senator Chang. “This is a great opportunity for us to work together to serve the community.”

“CVS Health is committed to expanding access to quality and affordable care, both through our retail footprint and with national and local non-profits and organizations who share our belief that better health starts at the community level,” said Douglas Chang, Region Director for CVS Health. “We were thrilled to be in Los Angeles to celebrate the expansion of Project Health and look forward to providing local residents with free health screenings throughout the rest of the year, as part of our commitment to building healthier communities.”

Project Health events, which will be held Thursdays – Sundays in select stores across Southern California through the end of the year, are open to everyone and do not require an appointment. Once screened, patients have access to on-site consultations with bilingual nurse practitioners or physician assistants who will analyze results and refer patients who require additional medical care and follow up to no-cost or low-cost medical facilities nearby or to their primary care physician.

“Keeping track of your blood pressure, weight and cholesterol are critical to staying healthy,” said Kabengele. “The work being done through Project Health helps thousands of peoples in communities like Los Angeles get the quality care that they might otherwise not receive.”

An array of free comprehensive health assessment screenings are available at these events, including blood pressure, body mass Index (BMI), glucose and total cholesterol screenings, which can help detect risk for chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. The expansion of Project Health will also do more to screen for social determinants of health that affect personal health and communities. A study has shown that up to 60 percent of life expectancy may be driven by behavioral, social and environmental factors including family, education, housing, and access to affordable healthy food.1

Through Project Health, CVS Health has hosted over 1,500 preventive care events across California since 2007, conducting 196,000 free health screenings, counseling 2,164 people on how to stop smoking and donating over $27 million worth of free medical services.

Project Health events have a proven track record of improving patient engagement and ultimately, healthier outcomes. More than 87 percent of patients who attend Project Health events report following-up with their primary care physician and were significantly more likely to proactively discuss their blood pressure, BMI and blood sugar levels, according to the company’s own metrics.

Since it was established in 2006, Project Health has delivered more than $127 million in free health care services to nearly 1.7 million people in multicultural communities with a large number of uninsured or underinsured Americans.

Personal Storytelling Demonstrates Effect of Safety on Human Lives in New Honda Brand Campaign

Honda Logo.

TORRANCE, California, Sept. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Honda is debuting a brand marketing campaign highlighting the automaker’s deep-rooted and ongoing commitment to safety and the company goal of helping to create a collision-free society. The new “Safety for Everyone” campaign launches today with 60-second and 30-second commercials (https://honda.us/safetyforeveryone) that portray a “what if” vehicle-pedestrian collision scenario. Through emotional storytelling, the spot illustrates what could happen to the lives touched by a pedestrian had a collision not been avoided by Honda’s Collision Mitigating Braking System™, part of the Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistive technology that is now standard or available on every Honda model in the U.S.

“Safety for Everyone” represents Honda’s unique approach to safety — that everyone sharing the road should be able to safely and confidently enjoy the freedom of mobility. With nearly 40,000 lives being lost each year in the United States due to motor vehicle crashes, Honda is dedicated to not only improving the safety of drivers and occupants of its vehicles, but all road users such as pedestrians, motorcycle riders, cyclists and occupants of other vehicles, with the ultimate goal of eliminating crashes and vehicle-related fatalities completely.

“We wanted our new Honda brand campaign to capture the type of real-life scenario that inspires Honda engineers to pour their passion into creating technologies that work toward our ‘Safety for Everyone’ approach of protecting everyone sharing the road,” said Ed Beadle, senior manager of marketing for Honda. “Crash statistics alone simply can’t tell the story of how a single crash can have a significant and lasting effect on family, friends and loved ones of people involved in a collision.”

Directed by award-winning commercial director Ringan Ledwidge, Honda’s “Safety for Everyone” spot will first air during tonight’s Friday night college football matchup on ESPN/ABC. The commercial will run on national cable and network television through November 30 and on sports networks through January 2020 during professional football, hockey and basketball games. The commercial leads a multichannel campaign that will also feature creative across Honda’s website and social media through the fall.

In addition, and to further advance its vision for a collision-free society, Honda will roll out a safety-focused social media campaign next month that features actual Honda customers who have benefited from Honda’s active and passive safety technologies. These inspiring stories are pulled from customers’ social media posts and letters Honda has received from thankful customers.

Honda “Safety for Everyone” Approach
On the basis of this “Safety for Everyone” concept, Honda is committed to developing innovative safety technologies and equipping them to its automobiles, motorcycles and other powersports products toward Honda’s vision for a collision-free mobile society where its customers, and everyone sharing the road, can safely and confidently enjoy the freedom of mobility.

Honda Sensing®
Honda Sensing® helps provide greater awareness of conditions around the vehicle, and in some cases can help drivers maintain lane position and, under certain conditions, is capable of slowing or even stopping the vehicle if a potential frontal collision has been detected. LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Cacique® Inc. – one of the country’s top authentic Mexican food brands – is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by partnering with some of the most respected voices in the culinary industry to unveil What’s Next in Mexican Cuisine. Spotlighting the profound influence Mexican cuisine has in America, the company’s second annual forecast includes food and beverage trends to watch for in 2020 alongside trend-inspired recipes developed by the panelists.

Cacique curated a panel of top culinary talent to develop this year’s predictions. Led by the company’s long-term partner, award-winning chef and TV personality Aarón Sánchez, the panel also includes the talents of James Beard Best Chef West semifinalist Chef Claudette Zepeda and Chef Thomas Ortega of Amor y Tacos in Los Angeles, as well as the unique perspectives of James Beard award-winning food writer and author Bill Esparza and Mixologist Alex Valencia of La Contenta in New York.

“We created What’s Next in Mexican Cuisine to extend our brand values – Family, Integrity, Quality and Authenticity – beyond the products that we craft every day, and shine a light on the impact Mexican cuisine has in our country during an important time for our community, Hispanic Heritage Month,” said Gil de Cardenas, Chief Executive Officer, Cacique, Inc. “We’re proud to celebrate authenticity in Mexican cuisine, and, at the same time, look ahead toward what’s to come – all in partnership with several of the most prominent voices in the culinary world today.”

The top Mexican food and beverage trends for 2020 include:

  • Mexican herbs like hoja santa, epazote and marjoram will rise to the top as a flavor trend, showing up in cocktails and dishes alike
  • Nixtamalization – an ancient process that transforms corn into masa – will enter the spotlight as a revered culinary technique when it comes to making fresh, homemade tortillas and tamales
  • Interest in plant-based cooking will extend into Mexican cuisine as chefs swap meat for popular and regional vegetables in traditional dishes
  • From chapulines to escamoles, more people will begin embracing insects as ingredients, particularly when incorporated into sauces
  • The Yucatan Peninsula and Central Mexico will stand out as hot spots influencing Mexican cuisine as a whole, and as culinary destinations
  • The Valle de Guadalupe will pick up steam as one of the world’s hottest up-and-coming wine regions
  • Pulque, tepache and Mexican whiskeys will heat up as trending cocktail ingredients
  • As access to more fresh and regional ingredients grows, home chefs will be more empowered to cook from scratch in their own kitchens
  • Young chefs will take inspiration from their family and regional heritage, but modernize these Mexican traditions with their own twists
  • Mexican cuisine will be more recognized as complex and layered – rather than always spicy and heavy

“As we look toward 2020, I’m excited to see a broad new appreciation for Mexican cuisine as its place within the culinary world continues to be elevated,” said Chef Aarón Sánchez. “There are so many talented chefs out there bringing back old school dishes, methods and ingredients with a spirit of reinvention or creating something entirely new. What’s Next in Mexican Cuisine provides a platform to showcase these trends and inspires those at home to explore our cuisine by creating meals that are made with authentic ingredients and embrace both our rich history and bright future.”

Each of the panelists designed a recipe that embodies their predictions, so that anyone can experience next year’s top Mexican food trends right in their own kitchens. PHOENIX, Sept. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — During Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate culture, customs, and the achievements of Latinos living in the United States. For the second consecutive year, FUD (which stands for Fine, Unique, and Delicious) is recognizing a group of Latinos as “Real Hispanic Heroes” for their inspiring success stories and efforts to improve themselves and their communities.

FUD, a brand owned by Sigma, was born in Mexico nearly 70 years ago. In the late 90’s, FUD began to expand its reach into the U.S. by marketing meat and cheese products.

“FUD is a Hispanic brand and we know the challenges of reaching a culturally different country, of adapting to the circumstances, because we have experienced these situations and that is why we want to acknowledge these heroes,” says Rafael Amezcua, member of the marketing team at FUD in the U.S.

Sergio Sandoval is one of the Real Hispanic Heroes recognized by FUD. Sergio is a NASA Aerospace Engineer who works at the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) in Pasadena, California. To fulfill his dream of reaching the stars, Sergio had to live away from his family and learn a new language and new customs while maintaining his sense of self and Hispanic heritage.

FUD recognizes Sergio because on his journey to achieving his dream of working at NASA, he relied heavily on the support of the Hispanic community. He received the strength and inspiration that motivated him to overcome challenges because he knew he was not alone.

“NASA is not a U.S. organization, NASA is world organization, because everything we discover changes textbooks in any country. It is an example of what we can do when we are united,” said Sergio.

IRVINE, California, Sept. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Mazda announced today a three-year partnership with the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame to support the William V. Campbell Trophy® presented by Mazda, college football’s premier scholar-athlete award.

“For three decades, the William V. Campbell Trophy® has recognized individuals who best reflect humility, dedication and inventive approaches to overcoming challenges. These individuals have a strong commitment to their teammates, academics and community,” said Dino Bernacchi, chief marketing officer for Mazda North American Operations. “Born out of Hiroshima, Japan, Mazda holds dear that same philosophy: pushing past boundaries, realizing potential and inspiring others to do the same.”

This college football season, Mazda is proud to launch its Power of Potential Platform, a program developed to honor individuals making a difference, pushing to their potential and inspiring others.  The platform will kick off by sponsoring The William V. Campbell Trophy® presented by Mazda, which ranks as one of college football’s most sought after and competitive awards, recognizing an individual as the best in the country for his combined academic success, football performance and community leadership. Past recipients have gone on to impressive careers, ranging from doctors to corporate executives, with gridiron greats such as Peyton Manning (Tennessee) and Christian Wilkins (Clemson).

Other past winners include John Urschel, a standout player at Penn State. Following a successful professional football career, he retired to pursue a Ph.D. in mathematics from MIT and is now a published mathematician. Urschel recently penned a New York Times op-ed, “Math Teachers Should Be More Like Football Coaches,” citing a lack of academic encouragement during his own childhood. He even works to inspire the next generation to drive their interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

“At the heart of the National Football Foundation is the nation’s premier scholar-athlete award, The William V. Campbell Trophy® presented by Mazda – a distinguished honor bestowed to those who meet the highest standards of on-field performance, academic excellence and community leadership,” said NFF Chairman Archie Manning. “That same pedigree is required of our partners, which is why we are proud to work with Mazda, who shares our common mission of inspiring others to reach their full potential.”

First awarded in 1990, the trophy is named in honor of the late Bill Campbell, the former chairman of Intuit and a former player and head football coach at Columbia University. His impact and success was recently chronicled in the “Trillion Dollar Coach: The Leadership Playbook of Silicon Valley’s Bill Campbell,” co-authored by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt.

This year’s finalists will be announced on October 30th and the 30th William V. Campbell Trophy® presented by Mazda will be awarded during the 62nd NFF Annual Awards Dinner in New York City on December 10th.

4 coaches from the Americas shortlisted as “Future Stars” by Arsenal and WorldRemit

Gilberto Silva - Arsenal player

LONDON, Sept. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Today, WorldRemit announces that 4 applicants from the Americas have been shortlisted for its Future Stars programme. Of these 4 coaches, one is a woman.

Gilberto Silva - Arsenal player

WorldRemit and Arsenal launched the second edition of the Future Stars programme in August to recognise the valuable contributions that grassroots youth football coaches make to their communities by teaching the children they train life skills on and off the pitch.

Through the programme, WorldRemit will sponsor two winners – one male and one female – to fly to London for a personalised training session with Arsenal Football Development coaches.

Entries for Future Stars closed on 4 September, and the programme received over 1,400 entries from coaches from across Africa and the Americas.

A panel of judges from WorldRemit and Arsenal Football Development reviewed the applications and selected 20 semi-finalists, including 4 coaches from the Americas, based on the following criteria:

  • The commitment of the coach to improving the lives of their community
  • The impact the coach has had on young people within their community
  • The strength of the coach’s proposal to pass on their training on their return home

In recognition of their commitment to using football to bring their communities together, the 20 semi-finalists will receive Arsenal shirts for their youth squad.

What’s next for the semi-finalists?

From the 20 semi-finalists, the judging panel will select eight coaches – four male and four female – as finalists. Their stories will be shared on futurestars.worldremit.com in late October and the two winners will be chosen based on a public vote on the website.

Daniel Canning, Managing Director of North America said: “Congratulations to the 4 semi-finalists from across the Americas!

“Our business is all about connecting communities, no matter where they are in the world. We developed Future Stars to celebrate the amazing work that football coaches do to support young people, and have been so impressed by the quality and diversity of the applications this year.”

Simon McManus, Head Coach at Arsenal Football Development, added: “Arsenal is thrilled to partner with WorldRemit to recognize coaches who use the power of football to inspire and support young people across the globe.

“We have one of the most successful women’s sides in the world and are committed to encouraging greater participation in the sport among women. Through this edition of Future Stars, we hope to further amplify the positive impact that female coaches have on their communities.”

About Arsenal

Arsenal Football Club was born when a group of workers at Dial Square armaments factory in Woolwich, notably exiled Scotsman David Danskin and Jack Humble, decided to form a football team to break the monotony of factory life.

Since that Dial Square team played its first match against Eastern Wanderers in 1886, Arsenal has gone on to become one of London’s most successful football clubs and one of the most famous names in modern football with millions of passionate followers worldwide.

Steeped in history and tradition, Arsenal Football Club has thrived on a pioneering and innovative spirit that has existed throughout its 133 years in existence. While society and football may have changed during this time, Arsenal has always served to create a sense of community for people in north London, across the UK and around the world.

Since 2015 Arsenal have operated a commercial office in Singapore, as well as at Highbury House, north London.
