Juan Pablo Montoya and Dane Cameron score second consecutive win of 2019

Teammates Helio Castroneves and Ricky Taylor finish third on Belle Isle street circuit

Incidents, contact blunt Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo efforts

DETROIT, June 2, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ Acura Team Penske drivers Dane Cameron and Juan Pablo Montoya continued to build momentum in the 2019 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, taking their second consecutive victory of the season Saturday on the Belle Isle street circuit, with teammates Helio Castroneves and Ricky Taylor finishing third in their Acura ARX-05 prototype.

Acura Team Penske Prototype
Starting from the pole, Montoya maintained his advantage throughout the opening stint of the short one hour, 40-minute contest, before handing off to co-driver Cameron at the first pit stop.  The pair combined to lead all but seven laps of the 58-lap distance, despite a race interrupted by five full-course caution flags and multiple on-track incidents.

Today’s victory for Montoya and Cameron follows their win earlier this month at the Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio, and moves the pair to within five points of the drivers’ championship lead after five of ten races.  The second win for the ARX-05 prototype also moves Acura to within a single point of the Manufacturers’ Championship lead.

In the #7 Acura Team Penske ARX-05, starting driver Castroneves was shuffled back to fourth on the opening lap, but co-driver Taylor regained second place with 30 minutes remaining, then battled the Action Express Cadillac of Felipe Nasr over the closing laps, finishing third.  Taylor and Castroneves also remain in the thick of the championship battle and currently stand third, a single point behind their teammates.

Meyer Shank Racing GTD
In GTD, the Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo’s started second and third, but the team’s attempt at winning a third consecutive Belle Isle race ended following contact for both cars.

Starting second, Christina Nielsen had an uneventful run during her opening stint, handing the #57 Acura off to co-driver Katherine Legge at the team’s single pit stop.  Legge made a bid for the lead with just over 30 minutes remaining, but was shuffled back to fourth after side-to-side contact with the Porsche of Patrick Long.  With less than 10 minutes remaining, a hit from behind sent the #57 into a quick spin and unrepresentative ninth-place finish.

In the second MSR Acura, starting driver Trent Hindman ran third throughout his run in the #86 NSX GT3, then handed off to co-driver Mario Farnbacher.  However, an issue changing the left rear wheel delayed their return to the track, and Farnbacher made heavy contact with the Turn 13 wall to end his race.

From one of the shortest races on the schedule in Detroit, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship moves on to one of the longest:  the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen, June 30 at Watkins Glen International Raceway in upstate New York.

Quotes
Matt Niles (Prototype Principal Engineer, Honda Performance Development) on today’s race and race win for Acura Team Penske: “It’s extra sweet to win in Detroit, and become the first non-GM car to finish first overall here at Belle Isle Park since 2012.  Coming on the heels of our win at Mid-Ohio, it seems like both the team and drivers have gained in confidence.  Acura Team Penske executed nearly perfectly, and so did Dane [Cameron] and Juan [Pablo Montoya].  This really helps us build momentum as we head to the six-hour race at Watkins Glen, which is always a challenge for everyone.”

Dane Cameron (driver, #6 Acura Team Penske ARX-05) Race winner, second consecutive 2019 win with co-driver Juan Pablo Montoya: “This is year two for the [Acura prototype] program, and we learned so much from the first season.  We showed well, often, last year, but made some mistakes.  Now we’ve cleaned up all the details, so hats off to everyone at Acura, at HPD and Team Penske for giving us the tools we need to win. We’re very happy to deliver a win here for Acura in Detroit.  Our car was really good this weekend.  I was really good through [Turns] nine and ten, which gave us a little breathing room coming out of [Turn] 11 to protect myself.  So, it was just a matter of capitalizing where we were strong and making sure I did my best where [second-place runner Felipe Nasr] was a little bit weak, and never give him an opportunity [to attempt a pass].”

Ricky Taylor (driver, #7 Acura Team Penske ARX-05) Finished third with co-driver Helio Castroneves: “Another great day for Acura, and for Acura Team Penske. I was happy to see the ‘Six’ guys [Cameron and Montoya] get another win.  The team did an awesome job; great strategy all day.  I’m a little disappointed we couldn’t seal it with a 1-2, but third is good for the championship.”

Christina Nielsen (driver, #57 Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3) Finished ninth in GTD after late-race contact for co-driver Katherine Legge:  “I got a good start and we were very competitive.  We were able to keep up with the leader [Zachary Robichon] and maintain a good gap ahead of the rest. The car was so nice to drive; that was a car that deserved a podium [top-three finish].  The team deserved it.  Our pit stop was great, our driver change was great. Unfortunately, the end result doesn’t reflect the performance we had this weekend.”

Best Tacos in O.C. – Mezquite Tacos & Fuego Celebrates its Grand Opening

0

TUSTIN, California, May 31, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Mezquite Tacos & Fuego is pleased to announce its Grand Opening in Tustin, CA on June 3rd, 2019.

Mezquite Tacos & Fuego is a restaurant that is unique for the way its taco meat is cooked. They are the only restaurant in their area that cooks and grills their food over mesquite wood, which is the traditional and authentic way to cook meats for that perfect smoky flavor. This, in fact, is what sets their restaurant apart from other establishments around. Their unique flavors of smoky char meats, organic house-made tortillas, amazing salsas, and natural aguas frescas will have hungry customers back time and time again.

Javier Fregoso, the founder of Mezquite Taco & Fuego, grew up in Calexico, CA and was always surrounded by great tasting tacos. Because of this, he knew the importance of keeping his tacos authentic in flavor. In 2008, at the age of 26, Javier decided to move to Los Angeles and within the two years of living there, he saw a great need for his native food. In 2010, Javier Fregoso started Mexicali Taco & Co. At the time, he did not have enough money to start his own restaurant, so he did the next best thing. He began selling tacos with a cart and a pickup truck in a parking space near Downtown LA. News quickly spread of Javier’s amazing tasting tacos and soon hundreds of people were lined up to get a taste. Within a short span of two years, the business was thriving and he was able to open a restaurant where he and his food have continued to flourish. Thanks to loyal visitors and respected critics, the restaurant then called Mexicali Taco received ‘Best Tacos in LA’ multiple years in a row and was also featured on The Los Angeles Times, Food Network, LA Weekly and the Cooking Channel.

In 2016, Javier saw a growing opportunity to sell his shares of Mexicali and gave him the opportunity to start his new company, now called Mezquite Tacos & Fuego. On May 27th and 28th, customers will receive Free Chips and Guacamole with any order. So if you’re hungry and looking for the best tacos in Tustin, stop by Mezquite Tacos & Fuego and have some tacos that you won’t soon forget!

Dixon, Ericsson Run 1-2 For Honda in Detroit

Scott Dixon took his Honda to victory today in the second race of the doubleheader “Dual in Detroit” NTT IndyCar Series weekend on the Belle Isle street circuit.

– Scott Dixon recovers from Saturday race crash to win Sunday finale

Marcus Ericsson completes 1-2 result for Honda

Honda drivers take nine of top-10 finishing positions

DETROIT, June 2, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Recovering in the best possible fashion from a crash and last-place finish in Saturday’s opening race, Scott Dixon gambled on running a longer opening stint than many of his rivals, led a race-high 44 laps, and won Sunday’s second round of the Dual in Detroit doubleheader NTT IndyCar Series weekend.  The victory was the first of the season for Dixon, and the Honda driver’s 45th career IndyCar win.

Scott Dixon took his Honda to victory today in the second race of the doubleheader “Dual in Detroit” NTT IndyCar Series weekend on the Belle Isle street circuit.

Starting sixth on the softer compound Firestone “Red” sidewall tires, Dixon’s Chip Ganassi Racing team avoided the temptation of pitting during a very early, Lap 1 caution, enabling the defending series champion to complete the 70-lap race distance on just two pit stops.  Once in the lead for the third and final time on Lap 50, Dixon remained in front for the final 20 laps to the checkered flag, despite a total of five caution periods during the incident-filled race.

Formula One veteran, but Indy car rookie, Marcus Ericsson had his best finish of the season, taking second in his Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Honda.  Ericsson was consistently one of the quickest of the “early pit stop” drivers, working his way from 12th on the grid to second at the race’s Lap 35 midpoint.  In the final laps, while unable to challenge Dixon for the win, Ericsson easily held off former series champion Will Power to hold on to second.

Honda drivers claimed nine of the top 10 finishing positions today, with Andretti Autosport teammates Ryan Hunter-Reay, Alexander Rossi and Marco Andretti finishing fourth through sixth respectively.  Hunter-Reay managed to stay at the head of the inter-team contest despite a deflating rear tire during the final three laps.

Starting 22nd and last after transmission problems in qualifying, Graham Rahal also employed the two-pit-stop strategy used by Dixon to great effect, finishing seventh after a determined run from the rear of the field.  Zach Veach brought his Andretti Autosport Honda home eighth for the second consecutive day.

Sebastien Bourdais finished ninth, despite damaging the nose and front wings of his Honda after contact with Spencer Pigot on Lap 13.  Bourdais’ Dale Coyne team was able to repair the damage while keeping him on the lead lap and he then put in a stirring recovery drive.  Teammate Santino Ferrucci was another IndyCar Series rookie to shine today, leading 20 laps – second only to Dixon – before finishing 10th

Next
Indy car’s five-week run of consecutive May-June event weekends concludes next week, as the series heads south to Dallas-Fort Worth for Round Nine and the first night race of the 2019 season, the DXC Technology 600 at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 8.

Quotes
Scott Dixon (Andretti Autosport Honda) Started sixth, finished first; first IndyCar Series win of 2019, 45th career victory: “Most of it was trying to keep the tires up to temperature [during the caution flags]. It was such a tricky situation, especially on the ‘blacks’ [harder compound primary tires] when they had a few laps on them.  I can’t thank the PNC Bank crew enough.  It was a rough day yesterday [with a crash in Saturday’s race] and I had a pretty good headache today and my wrist was pretty sore after that one.  I just drove the wheels off it and they did all the strategy.  The strategy is what nailed it and it feels fantastic.  I’m just happy for Honda and the whole PNC team.  We won in Detroit, it’s awesome.”

Marcus Ericsson (Arrow Schmidt Peterson Honda) Started 12th, finished second; career-best IndyCar finish in rookie season: “It was amazing.  My first podium since 2013 [racing in GP2].  I just have to thank everyone at Arrow SPM and Honda, they work so hard all year.  You know, we’ve had so much bad luck earlier this season, and I’ve made some mistakes as well.  To finally get a result like this and be on the podium I think is a great reward for all the hard work.  Now we can build on this.”

Ted Klaus (president, Honda Performance Development) on today’s second race of the weekend in Detroit: “It was great to see Scott Dixon and the entire Chip Ganassi Racing team shake off the effects of the crash in yesterday’s race and perform so perfectly today.  It was a complete team effort and a richly deserved victory.  Congratulations also to Marcus Ericsson on his second-place run today, he seems to have found a home here in Indy car racing and we’re very happy to have him driving for us.  Finally, a shout-out to Santino Ferrucci for leading 20 laps today and showing both confidence and maturity while in the lead. This was a great weekend for Honda, Acura and HPD, with victories in IMSA, IndyCar and the Baja 500.  Now we focus forward to Texas next week.”

New Alzheimer’s Campaign Encourages Families to Discuss Cognitive Problems Sooner, Enabling Early Diagnosis

0

CHICAGO, June 3, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — It’s a conversation no family wants to have – talking to a loved one about memory loss or cognitive decline. Close family members are typically the first to notice memory issues or cognitive problems, but they are often hesitant to say something – even when they know something is wrong. A new survey released today by the Alzheimer’s Association reveals that nearly 9 in 10 Americans say they would want others to tell them if they were showing signs of memory loss, thinking problems or other symptoms of cognitive decline. However, nearly 3 in 4 Americans say that talking to a close family member about memory loss, thinking problems, or other signs of cognitive problems would be challenging for them.

Experience the interactive Multichannel News Release here: https://www.multivu.com/players/English/8552451-alzheimers-association-ad-council-our-stories-campaign/

During Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month this June, the Alzheimer’s Association aims to bridge the current communication gap with tools to help people talk about cognitive concerns sooner. A new national campaign created in partnership with the Ad Council is the first-ever collaboration between the two groups and features real stories of people who noticed cognitive changes in a family member and took the first, difficult step to initiate a conversation. Designed to help encourage conversations that may be difficult but could prevent a crisis and improve health options and outcomes, the campaign was created pro-bono by the community.

“Discussing Alzheimer’s is challenging for families and this campaign tackles the issue directly,” said Michael Carson, Chief Marketing Officer, Alzheimer’s Association. “Initiating conversations sooner can enable early diagnosis, which offers many important benefits, including allowing more time for critical care planning, better disease management and providing diagnosed individuals a voice in their future care. The ad campaign is designed to encourage and empower people to have productive conversations before a crisis occurs.”

Every 65 seconds someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s disease. It is America’s sixth leading cause of death, affecting more than 5 million Americans and 16 million caregivers. Despite Alzheimer’s growing impact, many families struggle with discussing the issue.

Ed Ortiz, 52, from St. Helena, Calif., featured in the ad campaign, recalls the moment he knew it was time to have a conversation with his mother Cynthia Guzman. “My mom stopped at a stop sign and didn’t know what to do next,” he said. “It was an unsettling moment for both of us, but I knew she needed help.”

Guzman’s indecisive moment behind the wheel helped start a conversation that ultimately led to her Alzheimer’s diagnosis at age 63; she has had the diagnosis for eight years. “As difficult as it was receiving my diagnosis, I was grateful to have my son’s support,” she said. “He reassured me and he has been there for me ever since.”

“It’s understandable that many families are reluctant to express their concerns and initiate a conversation, but there are good reasons to do so,” said Ruth Drew, director of information and support services, Alzheimer’s Association. “Early detection and diagnosis puts individuals and families in the best position to navigate a devastating disease. Avoiding the conversation and letting problems progress is the worst thing you can do.”

The campaign demonstrates the importance of family members trusting their instincts and proactively raising concerns. The message, “When something feels different, it could be Alzheimer’s – now is the time to talk,” will be important for shifting people from being passive when they observe potential symptoms, to taking an important step and having a conversation.

“By highlighting heartfelt, relatable stories of people who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, this new critical campaign will help ease the challenges associated with starting this difficult conversation. We hope it will encourage audiences to notice the signs early, trust their gut, and have a talk. Having this conversation early can make a big difference in the lives of those who have been diagnosed and their families,” said Lisa Sherman, President & Chief Executive Officer of the Ad Council.

Video stories of caregivers, including Ortiz, who saw the signs and started a conversation, are designed to help illustrate how other families can do the same. Additionally, the campaign’s website offers families tools and resources, including customizable conversations starters, a list of early signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s, benefits of early diagnosis, a downloadable discussion guide and other resources.

“Our Stories is a transformative web experience to change the way people view Alzheimer’s disease. We used real stories, an illustrated aesthetic, and an interactive z-space approach to the narrative to build comfort for our users so that they would leave the site experience and apply the learnings with their real life situation,” said Chris Neff, Sr. Director of Innovation at the community. “The resulting product is a beautiful balance of art and information that we hope breaks through with the audience and leads to increased doctor visits and diagnoses at an early stage.”

For Mr. Hewitt, this is the third time that he is entering the space, he sees the incredible opportunity to serve the more than 50 Million Individuals in the US who Identify as Hispanic or Latino/a.  He selected ATAX as a partner based on their track record as a franchisor for over 12 years, as well as establishing the first Latino owned Franchise in the tax preparation, payroll, and bookkeeping industries in the US.

For Mr. Alvarez, this venture helps accelerate the existing strategy and complements it with the experience of a proven Franchising veteran in Hewitt.  “Together we will create the largest Latino Franchise company with thousands of locations throughout the country,” says Mr. Alvarez.  According to Mr. Garcia, there is no clear service provider focused on serving the US Latino community at a national level that provides both tax services for individuals and business services like payroll and bookkeeping.  “Our goal, as tax and business service leaders, is to serve our community while keeping both culture and language in mind.  With over 4.4 million U.S. small business owners who identify as Latino, we see ourselves as their support system in succeeding by providing sound financials and basic advisory services. In order to realize our goal, we will expand aggressively into key markets and reach 400+ locations by the end of 2021.”
