Ms. Goldman, who joined Avon’s Board of Managers in August 2018, is a distinguished marketing and branding executive with more than 30 years of experience at leading consumer products companies. Notably, Ms. Goldman was the Chief Executive Officer of Spanx, a multinational women’s apparel company, for 12 years, and was instrumental in building the brand from a small start-up to a successful global business with a number one position in market and mind share. Earlier in her career, Ms. Goldman held various senior leadership roles in the Global Marketing division of The Coca Cola Company.

Laurie Ann is an experienced and inspirational leader in women’s lifestyle and consumer products, and we are thrilled to welcome her as our new CEO,” said Lori Bush, Chairwoman of the Avon Board of Managers. “We believe Laurie Ann’s proven brand and business building capabilities, along with her passion for empowering women, make her the ideal CEO to further promote the success of our Representatives and ensure outstanding experiences for their enhanced satisfaction for our customers.”

Ms. Goldman commented, “The right product has the power to change a woman’s life, and each woman has the power to change the world. I thank Scott for his many contributions and look forward to delivering sustained growth through strategic innovation that will invigorate the business and ultimately help women face their futures with confidence.”

Chan Galbato, Chief Executive Officer, Cerberus Operations and Advisory Company, LLC, and Member of the Avon Board of Managers, added, “This transition is the result of our original long-term plan for reinvigorating Avon – to improve the Company’s fundamental operations and then transition to focus on strategic growth. We are grateful for Scott’s leadership during this critical stage of Avon’s development and are confident that the strong foundation he established will allow the Company to thrive in the years to come. In addition to the separation and creation of an efficient corporate infrastructure, Scott drove key initiatives to fully digitize the business, establish strategic partnerships for manufacturing and R&D, and enhance our Representative experience. We are excited for Laurie Ann to now take the Company forward and drive deeper customer engagement and sustained growth.”

Mr. White will transition to a strategic advisor role and work with Cerberus Operations and Advisory Company, LLC, the proprietary operations platform of Cerberus Capital Management, L.P., Avon’s financial and strategic partner. In his role, Mr. White will continue to advise Avon and Ms. Goldman and will also work on key initiatives across Cerberus’ portfolio of operating company investments.

Mr. White commented, “I would like to thank the entire Avon community, including our Representatives, associates, and customers, for their ongoing dedication and belief in our iconic brand, great products, and the opportunities we provide to women throughout North America. I am confident in Avon’s future and believe that with Laurie Ann’s leadership, the Company will be able to drive modern, relevant experiences for our customers while creating sustainable long-term growth. Research News: Eating Avocados At Breakfast Supports New Year’s Resolutions To Eat More Heart Healthy

Study Findings Show Eating Fresh Avocados at Breakfast May Improve Heart Function

MISSION VIEJO, Calif., Jan. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — A recent nutrition study published in Nutrients revealed heart health benefits for adults who consumed fresh avocado at breakfast. Given heart disease  is a leading cause of death among U.S. Hispanics,1 the findings offer timely inspiration for the millions of U.S. Hispanics working on a New Year’s Resolution to eat more heart-healthy in 2019.

Study Findings Show Eating Fresh Avocados at Breakfast May Improve Heart Function

According to the National Institutes of Health, the high prevalence of heart disease among Hispanics is due in large part to risk factors such as high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, obesity, lack of physical activity, smoking and diabetes. As some of these risk factors can be prevented or managed with lifestyle changes, the Hass Avocado Board has a science research pipeline of ongoing clinical studies examining the relevant benefits of avocado consumption.

Researchers studied the results of 31 overweight, middle-aged adults eating one-half or a whole avocado as part of a breakfast meal in comparison to a control group starting the day with the same number of calories but a different ratio of carbohydrates to fat. Researchers found those eating avocado at breakfast experienced improved blood flow, vascular function, blood sugar levels and lipoprotein profiles, all key markers of heart health which in turn may reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack.

The conclusions of the study align with the growing body of evidence supporting the heart health benefits of avocado but cannot be generalized to all populations. More clinical studies are underway to investigate the long term effects and relationship between avocado consumption and heart health as more research is needed.

“Just as Hispanics are pledging to find ways to start a more heart-healthy diet, I offer my clients an attainable, practical course of action: eat avocados at breakfast,” said Sylvia Melendez-Klinger, registered dietitian and Aguacates Frescos – Saborea Uno Hoy spokesperson. “Everyday heart-healthy eating plans can include fresh avocados as part of smoothies, breakfast toast and even pancakes as they provide naturally good fats and are sodium and cholesterol free.”

More than 25 easy avocado recipes certified by the American Heart Association are available in Spanish and English on SaboreaUnoHoy.com including delicious breakfast options like Avocado Berry Breakfast Smoothie, Avocado and Banana Overnight Oats and Gluten-Free Easy Chocolate Avocado Pancakes.

Introducing the Revolutionary Brazilian Butt Lift Under Local Anesthesia (BBLULA) in New York City by bodySCULPT®: A Safer Alternative

0

NEW YORK, Jan. 3, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Renowned New York City cosmetic surgeons Drs. Christopher Chia and Spero Theodorou of bodySCULPT® invented a revolutionary technique called the awake Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), otherwise known as BBL under Local Anesthesia (BBLULA). BBLULA is an ingenious way to enjoy the faster recovery time associated with local anesthesia and gain the benefits of BBL without risks of general anesthesia. This technique and study was published in American society of Plastic Surgeons, a peer reviewed journal https://bit.ly/2CJzZQe .

Why is Brazilian Butt Lift Under Local Anesthesia (BBLULA) so revolutionary? According to Drs. Christopher Chia and Spero Theodorou, “The Brazilian Butt Lift Under Local Anesthesia retains all the benefits of traditional BBL without the risk of general anesthesia and the accidental injection of fat into the bloodstream.” The surgeons took their experience of over 5,000 awake liposuction cases and extended the technique to where patients can have the fat removed from undesired places and safely injected into the buttocks.

Traditional Brazilian Butt Lifts under general anesthesia have been reported to have the highest death rate (one in 3000) by far for any elective cosmetic procedure. While removing fat from unwanted areas prepared and injected to the buttocks and thighs, it was found to cause devastating consequences getting lodged in lungs, heart or other areas. These complications have been reported in US, around the globe and has been banned by British Plastic Surgery Society.

Since no general anesthesia is used in BBLULA, the patients are awake. Local anesthesia is then carefully injected into both the areas where fat is to be removed and used for numbing. In contrast to the asleep patient under general anesthesia who is completely non-responsive, the awake patient acts as the best possible monitor reducing the chances of complications.

Advantages of BBLULA:

  • No implant related risks
  • Minimal side effects
  • Minimal downtime
  • No hospital stay
  • Faster recovery
  • Minimal scarring and discomfort
  • Soft consistency of the skin

RMUI Lowers Tuition for Thousands of Students, Ranking Among Illinois’ Most Affordable Private Colleges

0
RMUI aims to continue to support its students along their educational journeys with its new graduate school tuition reduction program and increased need-based awards.

CHICAGO, Jan. 3, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Robert Morris University Illinois (RMUI) is offering thousands of dollars in graduate school tuition savings along with more undergraduate scholarship money for high-need students. The move is a first of its kind for graduate tuition at RMUI.

RMUI aims to continue to support its students along their educational journeys with its new graduate school tuition reduction program and increased need-based awards.

The Speed Ahead graduate tuition reduction program reduces tuition by 30 percent across all graduate school programs. For undergrads, RMUI is giving more need-based financial aid to new students with family incomes under $60,000. The two initiatives will create more opportunities and fewer financial barriers.

“Now more than ever, it’s important that cost for college should only be a consideration, not a crippling factor,” RMUI President, Mablene Krueger said. “Our new cost-savings initiatives will ultimately increase our accessibility and affordability, so we can support a greater number of students along their educational journeys.”

The savings will begin in February 2019 for graduate students and July 2019 for undergraduate students. For example, an incoming MBA graduate student will save $14,000 during the course of their graduate degree. Qualifying undergrads may receive up to $39,000 toward a bachelor’s degree in need-based aid awards, depending on Estimated Family Contribution, which is determined by FASFA.

“This is exciting because you don’t typically see initiatives take place like this at the graduate level in higher education,” RMUI’s Dean of Graduate Studies Dr. Kayed Akkawi said. “This proves RMUI’s commitment to instilling next-level readiness for its graduate and undergraduate students. This is a big win for higher education and students who choose RMUI.”

RMUI is currently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the most diverse university in the Midwest. The accolade can be partially credited to RMUI’s already affordable programs, which attract a diverse pool of candidates. A large portion of RMUI’s population are first-generation students who typically lack the family income needed to fund their education. RMUI’s tuition reduction and revamped scholarship model are all the more critical given America’s $1.5 trillion student loan debt crisis.

“I want to pursue a graduate degree because it opens so many opportunities,” RMUI senior, Jordan S. said, who is a business management student. “I will be the first in my family to graduate from college, so financially, it’s really difficult [to obtain bachelor’s and master’s degrees], but I’m in a better position to get both with RMUI’s help.”

With seven campuses across Illinois, RMUI remains committed to providing an experienced-focused education based on real-world curriculum to help all students get ahead of the curve with fewer financial burdens. To learn more about RMUI, visit speedahead.robertmorris.edu.
