CONROE, Texas, Nov. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Falcon Steel America (FSA), a leading designer, engineer and fabricator of American-made steel structures, announced today that it has acquired a 226,000-square foot manufacturing facility in Conroe, Texas.   The addition of the new plant, located at 3575 Pollok Drive and sited on 25 acres, will more than double the company’s manufacturing capacity for high voltage steel-lattice towers and commercial galvanizing and dulling operations.

“We see robust growth opportunities on the horizon, and our expansion into Conroe allows us to significantly increase our production, and shrink turnaround time between fabrication and delivery for our customers,” said chief executive officer Jim Taylor.  “Further, our new world-class facility establishes a strategic foothold for our company in the Greater Houston area. We look forward to being an active community partner in Conroe and Montgomery County and continuing to build upon our ‘Buy American, Hire American’ initiatives.”

FSA anticipates hiring 150 local skilled and unskilled workers, including quality assurance and quality control inspectors, welders, fitters, machine operators and truck drivers in the near term.  Information about available positions and job fairs will be announced on the company website and on company social media channels in the coming weeks.

FSA builds and galvanizes steel monopoles and substations and is the only fabricator of high voltage steel-lattice towers in the United States, making it possible to quickly deliver critical structures to customers especially in times of disaster. The company believes in being environmentally responsible and uses 100% United States recycled steel.

At the new Conroe facility, the company will first establish its fabrication line, followed by its galvanizing line.  Within the first year of operations, FSA will expand production to monopoles.

NIH’s All of Us Journey Comes to The University of Texas at El Paso

0

EL PASO, Texas, Nov. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ —

Who:

UTEP and All of Us Research Program

What:

Traveling exhibit

When:

Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 9am to 3pm (Media suggested times 10-11:30 a.m.)

Where:

UTEP outside Union East – (500 West University Avenue, El Paso, Texas 79968)

Why:

To provide community and campus members information on the program and precision medicine.

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and the National Alliance for Hispanic Health will host the National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Journey on Wednesday, Nov. 29. The traveling, hands-on exhibit raises awareness about the All of Us Research Program—an ambitious effort to gather data from 1 million or more people living in the United States to accelerate research and improve health.

“We are glad the National Alliance for Hispanic Health recognizes our region as an important stop on the national tour and they are taking on a national effort to focus on the Hispanic population. If you look at most biomedical, behavioral or social science research, it doesn’t involve the Hispanic population,” Robert A. Kirken, Ph.D., College of Science Dean and principal investigator of UTEP’s Border Biomedical Research Center (BBRC) explained. “If you look into clinical trials and large study groups, most of the time Hispanic participants are non-existent. It is our duty to figure out how we can better their lives through our science.”
Campus and community members are invited to come learn about the program and get information on healthy living and preventing disease.

“As healthcare professionals, it is critical that we educate our community and engage them in making a difference in their health,” Elias Provencio-Vasquez, Ph.D., School of Nursing Dean said. “This traveling unit provides people the opportunity to find out more about research efforts to help them, and their community, in an interactive way.”

El Paso is one stop on the All of Us Journey’s 37-week national tour.

“All of Us is so important to shaping the future of health in the United States,” said Dr. Jane L. Delgado, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health, the nation’s leading Hispanic health advocacy group. “This research program will bring together communities throughout the United States to drive new discoveries, which may lead to earlier disease identification, more precise treatment solutions and better health outcomes for all in the future.”

About the National Alliance for Hispanic Health (the Alliance) – The Alliance is the nation’s foremost science-based source of information and trusted non-partisan advocate for the best health outcomes for all. Texas Association of Realtors releases inaugural Texas Realtor Satisfaction Index

0
Texas Association of Realtors logo

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ —  The Texas Association of Realtors released today a new report that gauges Texas homebuyer and seller satisfaction of working with a real estate agent. The inaugural Texas Realtor Satisfaction Index showed that a majority of homebuyers and sellers highly value the local market knowledge and expertise that Texas Realtors provide. Survey respondents cited word-of-mouth referrals and timeliness in communications as important factors in the selection and satisfaction of working with a real estate agent.

Texas Association of Realtors logo

According to the report, Texas homebuyers and home sellers rated their experience of working with a Texas Realtor a 4.91 and 4.87 out of 5.0, respectively. Among those surveyed, approximately 98 percent gave a satisfaction rating of “good” or “excellent”, 1 percent selected “satisfactory” and less than 1 percent selected “poor” or “below expectations.”

Respondents’ satisfaction of working with a Texas Realtor was most likely to be impacted by the agent’s ability to communicate clearly and in a timely manner. Vicki Fullerton, chairman of the Texas Association of Realtors, commented: “The Texas housing market moves fast, and it’s increasingly important for Realtors to be able to operate at the speed of the market. This means allowing for greater accessibility, setting communication expectations up front with clients and ensuring clear, timely communications so that homebuyers and sellers can feel confident at every step of the process.”

Despite the growing role of technology in the real estate industry, the Texas Realtor Satisfaction Index showed that more than one-third of homebuyers and sellers found their Texas Realtor through a referral from friends or family. Less than 5 percent of respondents found their Texas Realtor through an Internet search or online portal.

Eight in 10 respondents indicated that they didn’t consider another broker if they had previously worked with a Texas Realtor. Texas homebuyers and sellers ranked a deep understanding of a client’s unique needs and local market conditions as the top two deciding factors in working with a Texas Realtor.

Fullerton concluded, “Being a Texas Realtor means striving to make a difference every day, not just in the lives of the homebuyers and sellers we serve, but in the communities in which we live, work and do business. That’s why you’ll often see Texas Realtors taking a stand on issues that impact our economy and quality of life, such as the recently passed Proposition Two which gives Texas homeowners easier access to the equity in their homes.”

The number of Texas Realtors has grown approximately 27 percent since 2010, now exceeding 114,000. In 2017, Texas Realtors remain committed to homeowner advocacy and in 2017 alone invested $4.96M to the Texas Association of Realtors Political Action Committee (TREPAC) and donated more than $3M in Hurricane Harvey Relief through the Texas Realtor Disaster Relief Fund.
