Golden Path to an Active Summer

Honey Leads the Way to a More Energetic You!

FIRESTONE, Colo., June 25, 2014 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Summer is finally here again and that means our schedules will soon be full of fun outdoor activities. Whether it’s hiking or heading to the park for a picnic with family and friends, all summer activities have one thing in common: they all require energy! Luckily, there’s a flavorful solution to staying energized all summer long, and it’s one that will even help you stay on track with your “summer bod” goals. The solution? Honey, of course! The National Honey Board (NHB) knows that energy is key to keeping up with both your fitness goals and upcoming outings, which is why they’ve partnered with fitness expert and personal trainer Julia Chaidez to put together a variety of light, no-fuss snacking and dining options with nature’s golden fuel: honey.

These honeyed recipes are perfect for summer palates, as they include fresh options like a Summer Salad with Honey-Lime Dressing and a Light Honey-Ginger Chicken. The golden nutrient works to complement the unique flavors of each dish, adding just enough sweetness to balance out the spice in the habanero used in the Summer Salad, and also pairing harmoniously with the ginger in the chicken recipe. Aside from the delectable options mentioned above, Julia and the NHB also put together easy breakfast options like the Tropical Honey-Coconut Smoothie and the Pink and Powerful Yogurt Parfait so you can start your day off with a cool, satisfying boost.

“It’s amazing how much you can do with honey,” states Julia. “Not only does it play well with a range of ingredients, but the added bonus of using honey is that it’s a natural source of carbohydrates the primary fuel our body uses for energy.” One tablespoon of honey contains 17 grams of carbohydrates and is ideal for working muscles, so an active day can benefit from this sweet energy booster. Before a workout or just a family outing, consider honey your golden ally for your active summer days.

As a busy working mom, Julia knows all too well the importance of maintaining energy levels, and since her business is in fitness, honey is the go-to source of fuel she recommends to all her boot camp trainees. “Honey’s wholesome quality and delicious flavor have made it a pantry staple for years,” she adds, “but its qualities don’t stop there try these recipes and feel them for yourself!”

Along with sharing her honey-based recipes, Julia also developed 10 Golden Rules to inspire consumers to start their path to a more active and fulfilling lifestyle. These include powerful motivators such as Strengthen The Mind, Wake up with a Purpose, Choose Natural Foods, Rest, Give to Others and Find Your Passion.

Now, it’s up to you to put these tools to use and start on your own golden path! But don’t fret, honey will sweeten the trip there, one recipe at a time. For more tips, updates and recipe ideas, visit Miel Pura on Facebook and give the page a “Like” https://www.facebook.com/pages/Miel-Pura/235486869824607. Here’s a taste of what we have in store:

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons honey
8 oz plain Greek yogurt
Juice and pulp of 1 grapefruit
1 cup berries
1 cup granola

Preparation:
In a medium-sized bowl, combine honey, Greek yogurt and grapefruit juice and pulp. Divide and serve mixture into 4 cups. Top each off with ¼ cup of berries and ¼ cup of granola before serving. Portions can also be stored in the fridge for a quick go-to snack during the week.

Light Honey-Ginger Chicken

Makes 4 servings

4 tablespoons honey (divided)
4 inches of fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
4 chicken breasts, sliced fajita style
Juice of 1 lime
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1 head of romaine lettuce, roughly chopped

Preparation:
In a medium-sized bowl, combine two tablespoons of honey (set aside remaining two), ginger, salt and pepper. Place the raw chicken breasts into the mixture and lightly toss, making sure chicken is evenly coated in marinade. Set aside. Capital Cities, Aloe Blacc Take Over Beck’s Beer Bottles

Original Designs from Capital Cities, Aloe Blacc, Luis Fonsi, DJ Irie, TYPOE, Maluca Mala, Ron Finley, Camille Rose Garcia to Adorn Millions of Beck’s Beer Bottles This Summer

ST. LOUIS, June 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Beck’s Beer today announced that indie pop sensation Capital Cities and singer/songwriter/rapper Aloe Blacc, as well as six additional artists, will collectively take over millions of Beck’s beer bottle labels beginning July 1, 2014.

Beck's Beer Live Beyond Labels 2014

In addition to Capital Cities and Aloe Blacc, 2014 participants include:

“Live Beyond Labels participants tend to be drawn to the idea of reaching millions of people in an entirely new way,” said Ryan Garcia, vice president, regional marketing. “The size of their audience and their creative focus differs from artist to artist. But they all share an independent streak, a fearlessness Beck’s admires.”

Every year for the past 27 years, Beck’s Beer commissions original artwork for the summer-long Live Beyond Labels series. The brand replaces its traditional labels with the original designs from both emerging and established artists.

Throughout the life of the program, Beck’s labels have showcased original designs from a range of creative celebrities, including Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Yoko Ono, MIA and Kid Cudi. The program began in the UK and moved to the US in 2012.

One reason for the program’s popularity is its disruptiveness. Beer drinkers do not traditionally find original artwork on the side of a bottle of beer, let alone designs created by musicians, DJs and “guerilla gardeners.” In its history, the program has placed original art on more than 500 million bottles of Beck’s beer.

The 2014 roster of participants includes musicians, a DJ, a visual artist, a renegade gardener and a lowbrow artist:

  • Capital Cities is an American indie pop band based in Los Angeles. Formed by Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian, Capital Cities released their debut EP in 2011. This summer, Capital Cities will tour with Katy Perry.
  • Aloe Blacc is an American singer, songwriter, rapper and musician. Blacc co-wrote and performed the smash hit single “Wake Me Up” with Swedish DJ Avicii. His newest album, “Lift Your Spirits,” was created in partnership with producers including Pharrell Williams, DJ Khalil and Rock Mafia. He is now on tour with Bruno Mars.
  • Luis Fonsi is a Puerto Rican pop singer and composer. Since debuting in 1998, Fonsi has won a Latin Grammy and been named by Billboard magazine as a “Leader of Latin Music’s New Generation.” His latest album, “8,” was described by Billboard as a “cohesive package of truly great pop songs.”
  • DJ Irie is a Miami-based DJ. Dubbed the “King of the South Florida party scene,” Irie is the official DJ of the Miami Heat and an in-demand touring DJ.
  • TYPOE is a visual artist and a mainstay in Miami’s thriving art scene. He is represented by Spinello Projects and is co-founder of project space PRIMARY.
  • Maluca Mala is a Dominican musician based in New York City. Mala’s music is described as Latin-dance, tropical punk hip-hop and ghetto techno. Raised in Manhattan’s Washington Heights, Mala performs a “decadent mix” of musical styles, according to the New York Times.
  • Ron Finley is a creative phenomenon on a quest to conquer the world, one garden at a time. Armed with a shovel, some soil and seeds, Ron Finley has come to be known as the “renegade gardener,” and his unexpected tactics have made him one of L.A.’s most widely known activists.
  • Camille Rose Garcia is a Los Angeles based artist who creates colorful surrealist fairy-tale paintings about failed utopias and the relationship to the natural world.

Live Beyond Labels is intended to celebrate the fact that design is everywhere. The program intends to transform the traditional into the exceptional, by giving creative people an opportunity to treat millions of Beck’s beer bottles as a non-traditional artistic canvas.
