MIAMI, Feb. 28, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — World meditation leader Deepak Chopra, and strategist and best-selling author Ismael Cala, will join forces in a retreat to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the book “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success,” organized by Chopra Global.

The retreat will take place from May 13 to 17 in the Riviera Maya on the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, a place that has inspired deep spiritual reflection for thousands of years.

“I developed ‘The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success’ as a way to break the myth that success is only achieved through hard work, precise planning and driving ambition. For the first time, I will share these powerful teachings in an immersion retreat. Together, we will learn to incorporate these laws to experience success in all its forms−not only material wealth, but fulfilling relationships, creative freedom, emotional stability, energy and zest for life,” Chopra explained.

For his part, Ismael Cala thanked Chopra for the invitation: “I am honored to accompany the master again. Our previous collaborations, through meditation challenges in Spanish, attracted hundreds of thousands of people. I now join this retreat, my third with Chopra, to celebrate the full force of ‘The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.'”

Sarah Platt-Finger, co-founder of ISHTA Yoga, LLC, will also participate in the retreat.

What are ‘The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success’?

  1. The Law of Pure Potentiality
  2. The Law of Giving
  3. The Law of Karma
  4. The Law of Least Effort
  5. The Law of Intention and Desire
  6. The Law of Detachment
  7. The Law of Dharma

The retreat experience includes practices such as pranayama breathing, chakra toning, primordial sound meditation, yoga classes, application of “The Seven Spiritual Laws” and vegetarian food, inspired by traditional Mayan cuisine.

Great Premiere – Should I buy a gun? An AMERICA TeVe News Special Series

0

MIAMI, Feb. 27, 2020 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — America CV Network premieres the special series, Should I buy a gun? an exclusive investigation by journalist Adriana Navarro, starting next Monday, March 2 running until Friday the 6 in AMERICA TeVe’s news editions at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The series points to the controversial topic of firearms, deeply exploring all the angles of one of the issues that is of great concern to American society today, although gun ownership is a constitutional right enshrined in the Second Amendment. According to the latest statistics, every time there is a shooting in the country, gun sales soar.

In fact, there are now more than 400 million weapons in private hands in the United States, or 120 per 100 inhabitants. Are they all trained and trained to have them? Given this overview, the must-have questions are: do you feel safe? Does the possession of firearms help reduce massacres, or does it increase the chance of more occurring?

To answer these frequently asked questions, Adriana Navarro, reporter and mother of two, immerses herself in the depths of this complex social phenomenon. To do this, she learned the basic rules of the use of firearms; attended classes at shooting ranges; trained with Hialeah Police S.W.A.T. officers; and witnessed a mock mass shooting, where they showed her how to act in such a situation.

Adriana attended the Florida Gun Show, the largest arms fair in the state, where she interviewed sellers and buyers, who explained the reasons why people decide to buy a gun and what the requirements are to purchase one. Likewise, she spoke with legislators, psychologists, political leaders, teachers and students, to learn about the legislative advances in this matter following the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and to bring light to the controversial disjunctive whether or not teachers should be armed as the last resource of defense against massive attacks.

In addition, the series raises a key question: what is the problem? Guns or people who have guns? To address the thorny issue, Adriana explored the different legal loopholes that exist in terms of the mental state of the person buying a firearm. The research found that between 35,000 and 40,000 people die in the United States each year from firearms, but lives were also saved in self-defense through them.

Should I buy a gun? –  a special series that includes the opinions of those for and against firearms and shows a different perspective on this social phenomenon.

“After doing this series I understand how difficult it is to find solutions to such a complex, controversial and edged issue.  I hope that those who choose to buy a gun will do so in a responsible way and following the directions we show in the series,” declared Adriana.

A production of America News, under the direction of Miguel Cossío, manager of América CV Network, the journalistic investigation of Adriana Navarro, conducted and edited by Adrián Mauceri and the chamber of Angel González.

¡Ñooo! A Tribute to Álvarez Guedes To Premiere In Miami In May

Loud_and_Live_AG_Admat_English

MIAMI, Feb. 27, 2020 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — From the producers of ¿Qué Pasa USA? Today … 40 Years Later, Loud And Live and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County today announced the premiere of ¡Ñooo! A Tribute to Álvarez Guedes, a tribute to the famed Cuban comedian who redefined Latin comedy, becoming an icon of good humor in his homeland and abroad. The five performances will take place at the Ziff Ballet Opera House of the Adrienne Arsht Center starting on Friday, May 1st through Sunday, May 3rd. Loud And Live has committed to make ¡Ñooo! a touring show and an announcement with details on tour cities and dates will be made after the Miami premiere run.

Guillermo Álvarez Guedes was an actor, writer, screenwriter, director, entrepreneur, record producer…but above all, one of the greatest Latin American comedians in history. In his native Cuba, he had a successful career in theater, radio, television and nightclubs, but it was in exile that he became a legend and one of the most recognized and loved artists of all time.  He was the first Spanish-language comedian to use vulgarity in his routines and inspired countless Hispanic comedians.  His comedy appealed to fans from around the world.  Even English-speakers enjoyed his humor as his best-selling album, How to Defend Yourself from the Cubans, was done primarily in English.

“Producing concerts and shows comes with an important responsibility towards our community. In 2018, I fulfilled a dream by paying tribute to one of the most significant television programs for Hispanics with ¿Qué Pasa USA? Today … 40 Years Later,” says Nelson Albareda, CEO of Loud And Live. “I have always wanted to recognize the greats of our history who play such a vital role in shaping who we are today, and with this show we honor an icon who transformed Spanish-language comedy.”

¡Ñooo! A Tribute to Álvarez Guedes, brings his story and best-known routines back to the multiple generations who still enjoy the humor of the comedy genius who created a unique and universal language of laughter. Well-known comedians, actors and special guests who knew him will tell his story, supported by unpublished audiovisual footage that will take the audience back to the years when Álvarez Guedes was unquestionably the reigning King of Comedy.  An announcement of the confirmed cast will be made in coming weeks.

“I don’t see him as the famous comedian. For me, he was my husband of 58 years and the father of my daughters,” says Elsy Álvarez Guedes, widow of the late comedian who has provided much of the material that will be used in the show. “Guillermo would love to know that his comedy endures and that the public still admires, remembers and loves him.”

Tickets go on sale on Friday, February 28th  and will be available through the Arsht Center Box Office in person at 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami FL, 33132, by calling (305) 949-6722, or online at www.arshtcenter.org.  Ticket prices start at $39.

¡Ñooo! A Tribute to Álvarez Guedes – Executive Producer and Producer: Nelson Albareda; Writer and Stories Producer: Glenda Diaz-Rigau; Writer and Director: Gonzalo Rodríguez. Ziff Ballet Opera House of the Adrienne Arsht Center starting on Friday, May 1st through Sunday, May 3rd.

Relive the legacy of a Comedy Master: Guillermo Álvarez Guedes.

About Guillermo Álvarez Guedes:

(8 June 192730 July 2013) was a Cuban comedian, actor, writer & businessman born in Unión de Reyes, Matanzas. His showbiz career began in his hometown. There, since childhood, he would entertain crowds at parties and fairs by dancing and singing. It was natural that he would travel to Havana, not just the country’s capital but a known entertainment center. In Havana, he worked in theaters and radio shows. But it was in the new medium of television where he made his mark. In a city known for its nightclub scene, Alvarez Guedes appeared in popular television shows that were set in bars and clubs in the role of “el borracho”, the drunkard, where he mixed linguistic humor with a physical comic style reminiscent of American silent movie stars. He worked in this medium, as well as the booming club world of 1950s Havana, where he shared billing with such stars as Beny Moré, Olga Guillot and Rita Montaner.
During that decade, the comic also began a cinematic career that would lead to roles in more than 14 movies and the production of three. However, his most disseminated medium was the recorded spoken word. In 1960, Alvarez Guedes was forced into exile, landing first in New York City, then San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he eventually made his first comedy album in 1973, leading to thirty-plus albums over the years. Through the albums, he became an international star of Spanish-language comedy before settling in Miami. His best-selling album was his English-language album, How to Defend Yourself From the Cubans. Alvarez Guedes and his brother Rafael, together with composer/band leader Ernesto Duarte Brito, founded Gema Records, the company that launched the international careers of El Gran Combo and Willy Chirino, to name a few.  During the 1970s and 1980s, Álvarez Guedes dedicated himself to recording comedy albums and writing comedy books. He died on July 30, 2013 at 86 years of age.

Operating without the need for a conventional automatic transmission, the two-motor hybrid-electric powertrain combines a high-efficiency 2.0-liter DOHC i-VTEC® Atkinson-cycle engine with an electric propulsion motor that produces 232 lb.-ft. of torque, for a total system output of 212 horsepower4.

The two-motor hybrid system uses a propulsion motor and a generator/starter motor built with a patented Honda design that doesn’t use magnets with heavy rare-earth metals, reducing magnet cost and weight. The system manages the power delivery between each component and seamlessly shifts CR-V Hybrid through three distinct drive modes – EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive – automatically selecting the best mode for the conditions with no input from the driver.

Like the AWD system used in the non-hybrid, the 2020 CR-V Hybrid’s Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System™ uses special software to determine traction conditions and when torque is best sent to the rear wheels in low traction conditions, when AWD is most useful. When the system isn’t needed, an electronically controlled clutch deactivates power delivery to the rear wheels to improve fuel efficiency.

ADVANCED SAFETY AND DRIVER-ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGIES
The CR-V Hybrid comes standard with the Honda Sensing® suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies. Honda Sensing includes Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and pedestrian sensing capability, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with low-speed follow and Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS). Additional driver-assistive technologies include the available blind spot information, Rear Cross Traffic Monitor and Auto High Beam headlights.

The 2020 CR-V Hybrid also incorporates the latest generation of Honda’s proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure and targets the highest collision-safety ratings, including a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)3 and a TOP SAFETY PICK rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), including a SUPERIOR rating for frontal crash prevention with Honda Sensing.

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Feb. 27, 2020 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the United States and the 11th leading cause of death in California.  On Wednesday, March 4, advocates from the California Chapters of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), the largest suicide prevention organization in the United States, will meet with lawmakers to urge their support for: SB 855 and SB 854 to expand access to mental health and substance use care and insurance coverage; AB 2112 to charge the Office of the Surgeon General with addressing youth suicide prevention and behavioral health; and SB 849/AB 1849 to allow for excused school absences to address student behavioral or mental health needs.

“Our annual State Capitol Day provides a tremendous opportunity for our volunteer Field Advocates to continue the discussion regarding the current challenges of mental health and the impacts of suicide across California. We understand that suicide is a complex issue and we are hopeful that through our grassroots efforts, we can support our lawmakers by continuing to deepen their understanding. Our AFSP chapters across California are making great impacts on our communities and we are letting our elected officials know how they can support the cause and save lives within their communities,” said Che Hernandez, AFSP California Public Policy Committee Co-Chair & National Public Policy Council Member.

The AFSP California Capitol Day is a special day for all who have a connection with or a personal story around the topic of suicide. Attendees will meet with their legislators to share their stories about why they participate in this advocacy effort, giving a human face to this important public health problem and helping lawmakers understand that investments in mental health and suicide prevention can save lives.

AFSP California advocates are part of a larger national movement of AFSP volunteer advocates who will visit state capitols across the United States in 2020 to bring best practices in suicide prevention to legislators and their staff. To learn more about AFSP’s advocacy efforts, visit here: https://afsp.org/our-work/advocacy/.

On average, 132 Americans died by suicide each day in 2018, and upwards of 90% of those individuals had a diagnosable mental health condition at the time of their death. AFSP volunteers will urge state lawmakers to be the voice for the thousands of residents across the state affected by mental health conditions and suicide each year.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. AFSP creates a culture that’s smart about mental health through education and community programs, develops suicide prevention through research and advocacy, and provides support for those affected by suicide. Led by CEO Robert Gebbia and headquartered in New York, with a Public Policy Office in Washington, D.C. AFSP has local chapters in all 50 states and the District of Columbia with programs and events nationwide.
