Injured Garbage Truck Driver Hired as Paralegal by Reck Law, PLLC, a Law Firm that Represents Washington State Injured Workers

0

SEATTLE and PORT ORCHARD, Washington, April 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Reck Law, PLLC is pleased to announce it hired injured worker, Robert Biddix, to join their team.  After completing retraining through his workers’ compensation claim at Tacoma Community College, Mr. Biddix graduated from the paralegal program with exemplary grades.  Mr. Biddix had a nearly 20 year career as a garbage truck driver prior to his work injury in 2011. With the help of the Washington State Workers’ Compensation system, Mr. Biddix successfully received treatment for his injuries, completed retraining for a new career that accommodates his permanent physical limitations, and returned to full-time employment.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Biddix worked for several employers in waste management as a garbage truck driver. In 2011, while on his route in Poulsbo performing daily work duties for Waste Management, Inc., he severely injured his back. His colleagues finished his route, while he went to see a doctor who opened a workers’ compensation claim on his behalf. Shortly after, he performed light duty work and returned to full-time regular duty, resulting in worsening of his injury.

Washington State employers are obligated to carry industrial insurance, under a system that benefits both employees and employers when work injuries occur. Employers can subscribe to the state-funded program administered by the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) or maintain their own insurance if they are certified to be Self-Insured. Either way, the treatment of injured workers is governed by the Washington State Industrial Insurance Act, RCW Title 51.

Despite insurance coverage, claims do not always proceed as smoothly as they should. “After going back to light duty work, I tried to get an MRI. The insurance company refused it. To make things worse, they sent me to an IME and I received a letter from my claim manager wanting to close my claim. I realized something wasn’t right and hired an attorney that handles Workers’ Compensation cases” said Mr. Biddix. His MRI was approved quickly after the attorney got involved.

Under his claim, Mr. Biddix attended physical therapy and underwent two back surgeries to get to Maximum Medical Improvement, meaning the point where his injury would not improve any further.  While his treatment was considered successful, he was left with permanent physical limitations that preclude him from ever returning to work in physically demanding jobs.  The vocational expert assigned to Mr. Biddix’s claim determined that for him to return to work, he should be retrained.  After exploring his options, Mr. Biddix decided he wanted to obtain an Associates Degree so that he could return to work helping injured workers just like him.

If approved for retraining, injured workers in Washington State can select Option 1 or Option 2. Mr. Biddix chose Option 1, which means he received time-loss compensation and tuition coverage while he attended the Paralegal Program at Tacoma Community College. Near the completion of his college retraining program, he was offered internship at Reck Law, PLLC, a law firm that represents injured workers.  Upon the successful completion of his program, Mr. Biddix was extended an offer of full-time employment. On April 1, 2019 he began working as a salaried member of the Reck Law, PLLC legal team.

“It is a privilege to bring Mr. Biddix onboard. As a Workers’ Compensation law firm entirely dedicated to representing injured workers in Washington State, we adhere to our principles and we practice what we preach, which is to help injured workers” said Ms. Tara Reck, managing attorney at Reck Law, PLLC. She added: “We are lucky to live in Washington State, where the rights of injured workers can be upheld and protected. The system is not perfect. There are many fights to fight on behalf of injured workers that are mistreated or fall between the cracks, and that’s what we are here for.  For over a decade I have helped injured workers with so many aspects of their claims, but this is the first time I get to be the person providing an injured worker with a new job.  I’m thrilled to have Mr. Biddix on my team.  He has experienced first-hand what happens after a severe injury at work, and I know he’s eager to put all he’s learned to work helping other injured workers”.

Reck Law, PLLC is a Workers’ Compensation law firm dedicated to representing injured workers in Washington State. Ms. Tara Reck is the founder and managing attorney at Reck Law, PLLC. Since 2006 she has been a very active and vocal advocate for injured workers in Washington State. She is a regular speaker at national and in-state conferences regarding workers’ compensation issues.

Instituto Europeo de Inteligencias Eficientes and Ismael Cala to convene “School of Emotions: Experience” in Spain

MIAMI, April 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The European Institute of Efficient Intelligences (IEIE – Instituto Europeo de Inteligencias Eficientes) and Ismael Cala will be convening “School of Emotions: Experience,” an intensive 6-day course from July 1 to 7, in Jerez de la Frontera (Spain).

“In this course, attendees will learn to identify their emotions. They will be given tools by a group of experts to manage these emotions appropriately.  Emotions are neither good nor bad, but the way they are interpreted and the way they affect us are very important. Through practical exercises, participants will be able to connect with their emotions, control their thoughts and generate feelings to improve their lives, their surroundings and their relationship to others,” said IEIE President, Dra. Estrella Flores-Carretero.

Noted business strategist, communicator and inspirational author, Ismael Cala, for his part, argued that “it’s proven that successful people, in either personal or professional terms, are those who can achieve a good management of their emotions. This enables them to adapt to their surroundings efficiently and intelligently, even in situations of conflict.”

“Those who are able to recognize with certainty the emotions that govern their lives can take actions that will enable them to look for the causes that give rise to them, and use techniques to control them, preventing them from exercising control over us, and from our somatizing them as illness,” Cala added.

Register at: http://escuelaemociones.com/

“School of Emotions” has already held two theoretical sessions in Miami. Now, with a new format, the organizers of “The Experience” will help participants to perceive a positive impact on their self-esteem, self-image, assertiveness, self-control, social skills, conflict resolution and decision making.

Rossi, Honda Rule at Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach

0
Alexander Rossi started from the pole and led 80 of 85 laps to win Sunday's Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. The Honda IndyCar Series driver became the first to win back-to-back Long Beach races since fellow Honda driver Alessandro Zanardi accomplished the feat in 1997-98.

LONG BEACH, California, April 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Starting from the pole, Alexander Rossi fended off an early challenge from fellow Honda driver Scott Dixon and then took command of Sunday’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, dominating the 85-lap race and moving into second in the Drivers’ Championship points standings after four of 17 races.

Rossi led all but five laps of today’s 85-lap contest to score his second consecutive NTT IndyCar Series victory at Long Beach, becoming the first driver to successfully record back-to-back victories on the classic temporary street circuit since Alex Zanardi accomplished the feat in his Chip Ganassi Racing Honda in 1997-98.  Today’s victory was the third for Honda in four races this season, and the 14th Honda win in 20 races at Long Beach.

Dixon continued in second place until the first round of pit stops, where he briefly dropped to fourth behind Josef Newgarden and Will Power, then moved to third when Power briefly slid off course on Lap 31.  But an issue with the refueling probe during his final stop cost Dixon 18 seconds in pit lane, dropping him to fifth, behind both Graham Rahal and Ryan Hunter-Reay.

Dixon passed Hunter-Reay, who was having to save fuel in the closing laps after making an early final pit stop, for fourth place on Lap 81 and quickly closed on Rahal, who was slowing in the final laps due to tire wear.  On the final lap, the pair made contact when Dixon attempted to pass while exiting Turn 8. Following the checkers, Rahal was issued a time penalty that reversed their finishing positions, awarding Dixon with third place and dropping Rahal to fourth.

Behind the leaders, Hunter-Reay conserved fuel to finish in fifth, with Takuma Sato, winner of last weekend’s Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, eighth.  James Hinchcliffe, moving up from 15th on the starting grid, and rookie Felix Rosenqvist rounded out the top ten for Honda.

Next
The NTT IndyCar Series now heads “home” to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for “Month of May” activities, including the May 11 Grand Prix of Indianapolis road course race and the May 26 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500.  Both races will be broadcast live on NBC.

Quotes
Alexander Rossi (Andretti Autosport Honda) Started first, finished first, first IndyCar Series win of 2019, sixth career victory, second consecutive Long Beach win, 200th win for Andretti Autosport: “We knew it was going to be a hard-fought battle, but the team gave me such a great, great car and it’s the 200th win for Andretti Autosport, so what better way than to do it in that [dominating] kind of fashion, here at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, here in California.  It’s an amazing day.  This is a special one. I just found out that my grandfather died yesterday, so I want to dedicate this [victory] to him, and to Michael Andretti for his 200th win.”

Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing Honda) Started second, finished third: “It was unfortunate.  Graham [Rahal] overshot Turn 8 and then quickly tried to turn in reaction.  The rules don’t allow you to come back across or defend if somebody’s already there, and that’s what happened.  We made contact coming out of [Turn 8], I hit his rear tire and lost momentum as a result.  I think, had he not reacted there, I would’ve gotten him anyway.  But that’s racing.  It’s hard racing.  We were strong the last stint.  Congratulations to [Alexander] Rossi, that was a fantastic drive.”

Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing) Started sixth, finished fourth following a time penalty from Race Control: “It’s not that tough to swallow, we were going to lose the spot [to Scott Dixon] anyway. My fronts [tires] were absolutely gone.  I had no braking grip whatsoever.  I moved right as quick as I could out of the [Turn 8] corner and gave him a lane [on the left].  By the rules, you’re allowed to make one move, which I did on the exit of the corner, and that was it.  We’ll have to discuss it [with race officials].  I’m not upset about it.  Our car wasn’t great today, but it was decent.  At the end of the day, P-4, it was a good day, good [championship] points for us.  We haven’t had a lot of luck this year, so we’ll just take it as it is and move on.”

Steve Eriksen (Vice President and COO, Honda Performance Development) on today’s race win at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach: “What a great way to kick off the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, with a dominating performance from Alexander [Rossi] and Andretti Autosport in front of so many Honda and Acura fans.  Four of the top five drivers were in Hondas, representing three different teams, and we’re very pleased to have powered Andretti Autosport to their 200th race win.  With great drives today from Rossi, [Scott] Dixon and [Graham] Rahal, I believe this sets us up for a great Month of May in Indianapolis, so we’re really looking forward to both the Grand Prix of Indianapolis and, of course, the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500.”

Sean “Diddy” Combs, DJ Khaled and The Makers of CÎROC Ultra-Premium Vodka Get Ripe for New Limited-Edition CÎROC Summer Watermelon

NEW YORK, April 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Sean “Diddy” Combs, DJ Khaled and the Makers of CÎROC Ultra-Premium Vodka proudly unveil CÎROC Limited Edition Summer Watermelon, the newest addition to the successful flavor portfolio. CÎROC Summer Watermelon is a rich tasting spirit made with vodka five times distilled from fine French grapes, finished in a tailor-made copper pot still in Southern France.  The vodka is masterfully infused with a distinctive blend of Watermelon and other natural flavors, resulting in a delectably juicy fresh taste accented by a sweetness and zest that carries into a smooth finish.   The liquid is packaged in a luxurious and sultry red and white bottle with sleek matte red lettering, commemorating a fiery hot summer celebration. CÎROC Summer Watermelon can be enjoyed on the rocks or mixed with club soda or a variety of fresh ingredients such as pineapple juice, cranberry juice, lemonade and lime.  Following on the heels of past summer offerings, CÎROC Summer Watermelon is available for a limited time only.

Sean “Diddy” Combs, DJ Khaled and The Makers of CÎROC Ultra-Premium Vodka Get Ripe for New Limited-Edition CÎROC Summer Watermelon

“I am excited to introduce CÎROC Summer Watermelon as our newest flavor innovation, right in time for the summer,” said Sean “Diddy” Combs. “We wanted to bring something fun, and refreshing tasting to the table this season.  With this spirit we aimed to capture the essence of summer and bottled it.  CÎROC has a reputation for delivering the most successful flavor innovations and we aim to do this again with Summer Watermelon.”

To create the summer blend, Sean “Diddy” Combs tapped long-time friend and award-winning producer DJ Khaled.  The pair worked in partnership with Diageo to identify the proper flavor profile, liquid and taste appeal.  The result is CÎROC Summer Watermelon – a product that is born from summer and bred for sunshine and only available for a limited time.

“I love working with Puff because I know that he puts 100% into everything that he does. He always hustles to make sure that it’s the best product,” said DJ Khaled. “We have the same work ethic and values, so working together to create this limited-edition special flavor to help kick off the summer was key!  Working hard also means celebrating your success, and CÎROC Summer Watermelon was designed specifically for celebration. The summer season is all about being around those you love and celebrating your wins!”

Combs and DJ Khaled introduced the world to CÎROC Summer Watermelon via a dedicated guerilla style social media blitz inclusive of a :30 teaser campaign and launch announcement earlier this month.   On April 12th, the makers of CÎROC brought CÎROC Summer Watermelon to Coachella Valley, home of one of the world’s largest music festivals.  To kick off the festivities CÎROC partnered with LA Weekly and turned the nostalgic Palm Springs Korakia Pensione into the CÎROC Summer House, a one weekend only takeover, offering hotel guests and visitors their first taste of summer.  In addition to a bevy of unique interactive experiences and a larger than life watermelon patch, Ashlee Simpson-Ross and Evan Ross joined the brand poolside for the Official CÎROC Summer House Kick-Off Event.  Throughout the weekend festival goers enjoyed summer in a bottle at select day parties, brunches and influencer gatherings including the iconic Republic Records, Rolling Stone Live and a special performance by Saweetie at Moschino x Jeremy Scott event presented by CÎROC.

The launch weekend will set into motion the CÎROC Summer House, a series of nationwide events from New York to Miami including pool parties, rooftop brunches and tastings in top markets across the country.  Guests in attendance will be invited into the world of watermelon for custom experiences all summer long.  CÎROC will also host CÎROC Summer Houses at top music festivals across the country.  To ensure attendees celebrate responsibly, watermelon-themed bicycles will be used to help transport attendees to and from events.

This week the Makers of CÎROC also launch a new campaign with music from award winning, Reggaeton and Latin trap singer, Ozuna.   The spot will run through August on select digital outlets.

The Makers of CÎROC invite you to enjoy your first taste of summer with these easy to make at home recipes:
