Rastros de Mentiras (‘Traces of Lies’), the telenovela that scandalized a nation, to premier on Canal SUR

0

MIAMI, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — A story that will leave audiences scandalized. A kiss that paralyzed a nation. Canal SUR is shaking the screen with the most defiant, controversial and outrageous telenovela in recent memory.  A wide-open challenge to the taboo and the conventional that will seduce you from the very first chapter.

Paloma (Paolla Oliveira) is a courageous warrior of a woman who lives in a state of constant family conflict, straining to keep her balance in a web of lies that threatens to suffocate her. The revelation that will change her life will take place in Machu-Picchu, the historic Peruvian city of the Incas.

Filmed between Brazil and Peru, this famous Globo TV production deals forthrightly with controversial subjects such as homophobia, autism and organ donation.  According to its author, Walcyr Carrasco, the great merit of Rastros de Mentiras (‘Traces of Lies’ – originally, “Amor a Vida,” or ‘Love of Life’), among others, was that for the first time, it got an audience to approve of a gay couple. The characters Niko (Thiago Fragoso) and Félix (Mateus Solano) became landmark figures with the first gay kiss on TV, paralyzing the nation and causing ratings to skyrocket.

Its production was also a challenge for those who had to perform the roles of strong, controversial and complex characters every day. The show swept the awards for Best Telenovela, Best Actor (Mateo Solano), Best Supporting Actress (Elizabeth Savalla), Discovery of the year (Tatá Werneck), Teen Idol (Caio Castrol) and Child Actress of the year (Klara Castanho).

Exiger

Mr. Anthony joins Exiger from the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) of Antigua & Barbuda, where he was Deputy Chief Executive Officer. In that role, Mr. Anthony managed the daily operations of the CIU, helping to transform it into one of the largest, most efficient, and fastest growing programs in the world. Before this, Mr. Anthony spent more than 26 years in the banking sector – in both commercial and investment banking – in Antigua, St. Lucia, and Miami.

“Thomas’s expertise in banking, combined with his deep local knowledge, makes him uniquely qualified to advise the CIUs and the regional banks on how to most effectively address one of the most important issues facing the industry today: the pressure placed on global banks to comply with stringent AML regulations, causing them to ‘de-risk’ smaller, regional correspondent banking relationships,” said Michael Beber, Exiger’s President and CEO. “We are thrilled to welcome Thomas to Exiger, where he will work with both our due diligence and banking experts to assist in evolving standards in the industry and ensure the sustainability of citizenship by investment programs throughout the region.”

Exiger’s ICV Due Diligence Practice is a global leader in work related to citizenship by investment programs. The business is part of Exiger Diligence, which provides global public records research and investigative due diligence to global financial institutions, multinational corporations, and governmental agencies.

“Thomas has been, and will continue to be, a trusted advisor in the Caribbean region,” said Kim Marsh, Exiger Diligence’s Vice Chairman and Global Head of the ICV Practice. “His combination of extensive first-hand experience with citizenship by investment programs and deep knowledge of the banking sector will make him a tremendous asset to Exiger’s ICV practice, the Caribbean banks, and CIUs.”

“Exiger is the gold standard for due diligence and compliance,” said Mr. Anthony.  “Exiger’s industry-leading, technology-based, due diligence tools including DDIQ and Insight 3PM, will enable clients to conduct effective pre-screening, continuous monitoring and automated lookbacks. This will greatly enhance the quality, efficiency, and security of the CIUs’ due diligence process. I look forward to working with the entire Exiger team to provide enhanced services, advice, and support to the banks and CIUs operating across the Caribbean region.”

Mr. Anthony holds a degree in banking and finance from City Banking College and a degree in business administration and management from West London College.

It’s Never Been Easier For Football Fans To Catch Every Major Game This Season

MIAMI, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Skyscanner, the global travel search engine, is proud to announce the return of its popular and first-of-its-kind Football Flight Finder Tool. Skyscanner makes it easier than ever to score flights to every not-to-be-missed NFL game, and now the tool will help fans find flights deals for Southeastern Conference (SEC) college football games this season as well.

Skyscanner_Logo

Football is a sport that beckons fans like no other, especially when it comes to following teams. A new released study by Emory University professor Michael Lewis took on the task of evaluating the best and worst NFL fan bases, and one of his criteria evaluated a team’s “road equity.” Focused on “how teams draw on the road,” the study found that the three reigning NFL teams are the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders. And just as important to highlight are those teams that don’t seem to have the same appeal for attracting a following on the road, and those are the Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks.

When it comes to the college level, fans are known to travel well and far to support their teams. USA Today launched its College Football Fan Index last year, and while the rankings take many factors into account, among the criteria is game attendance both home and away. The SEC teams leading the charge are the Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, and Texas A&M.

Now in its second year, the Skyscanner Football Flight Finder is the only online resource that connects football fans with instant travel options to travel for games. Fans proved their team loyalty and willingness to travel the distance last year, with the most popular teams being searched for with the tool being the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks.

“Nothing rivals the in-stadium experience as one of your favorite major league or college teams taking the field, and Skyscanner’s Football Flight Finder is all about making those dreams into reality,” said Randi Wolfson, Head of Communications, Skyscanner. “We take all the guesswork out of the process for travelers, and pair our unparalleled platform with the teams’ schedules so fans can see all the flight possibilities and identify the best deals available.”

The Skyscanner Football Flight Finder tool is available at footballflights.com for NFL games and http://www.skyscanner.com/football/sec/ for SEC games. Football fans simply choose a home airport and favorite team. The tool then filters the best flight options matching the team’s full season game schedule. Alternatively, if the fan has a preferred game, the tool can sort games by stadium, matching flight deals accordingly. The Skyscanner Football Flight Finder suggests a few flight options, varying by length of trips from one-day to up-to a four-day trip.

Skyscanner’s very popular Price Alert feature is integrated into the tool, offering a quick-click option for fans to set-up an alert that provides notification on changes in ticket price. Fans can also easily share flight itineraries found through the Skyscanner tool directly with fellow fans via Facebook, Twitter and a link for email sharing.

Another Podium Run for Michael Shank Racing, Acura in Monterey

0
Andy Lally and Katherine Legge drove their Acura NSX GT3 to second place Sunday at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. It was the fourth podium finish of the season -- including two victories -- for the pair and their Acura.

MONTEREY, California, Sept. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/– A mid-race decision to split pit strategies between the pair of Michael Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3s paid dividends Sunday at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.  The driver pairing of Katherine Legge and Andy Lally made opportunistic passes for position – all while saving fuel – to score a second-place finish in the GTD class in the penultimate round of the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Andy Lally and Katherine Legge drove their Acura NSX GT3 to second place Sunday at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. It was the fourth podium finish of the season -- including two victories -- for the pair and their Acura.

The podium finish was the fourth of the season for Lally and Legge in the #93 MSR Acura, including race victories at Detroit and Watkins Glen, and a second-place finish at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

Starting 11th in GTD, Legge gained four positions in the first 40 minutes of the 2 hour, 40-minute contest, then stretched her fuel mileage to run to the 55-minute mark, moving up to second as other GTD competitors pitted for their first scheduled service.

With Lally at the wheel of the #93 NSX GT3, a full-course caution period led the MSR team to call him in for a final scheduled pit stop with an hour and 10 minutes remaining, requiring Lally to save fuel in order to complete the race without a third pit stop.

Meanwhile, the #86 MSR Acura, started by Oswaldo “Ozz” Negri from seventh, soon moved up to fourth as the veteran Brazilian completed his own impressive stint. With Negri handing off to co-driver Jeff Segal at the 53-minute mark, the MSR team elected to keep the #86 NSX GT3 on its original pit plan, as the 16-car GTD field effectively split into two groups.

As the race entered its closing stages with no additional cautions, Lally was running fourth, but moved up to second in the final laps as two other competitors ran short of fuel and were forced to pit.  Meanwhile, Segal improved from 12th to 10th, but was unable to advance further in the run to the checkers.

The Acura NSX GT3s compete in the GTD class of the WeatherTech series, campaigning against premium automotive brands including Aston-Martin, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

Honda Performance Development (HPD), the racing arm for Acura Motorsports in North America, and J.A.S. Motorsport of Italy are now offering the race-winning NSX GT3 for sale around the world for the 2018 season. In addition to its success in the IMSA WeatherTech series, the NSX GT3 also has recorded a victory in Pirelli World Challenge competition this year.

Developed from the production Acura NSX, the NSX GT3 utilizes the production NSX’s ultra-rigid and lightweight multi-material body with aluminum-intensive space frame, which is produced at the Performance Manufacturing Center in Ohio, exclusive worldwide manufacturing facility for the NSX. The 3.5-liter racing engine uses the same design specifications as the production Acura NSX, including the block, heads, valve train, crankshaft, pistons and dry-sump lubrication system. A six-speed, sequential-shift racing gearbox delivers power to the rear wheels.

Video recaps from this weekend’s Acura WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca are being posted on the “Honda Racing/HPD” YouTube channel.  Produced by the Carolinas Production Group, the video packages can be found in the 2017 HPD Trackside Video Playlist at: https://www.youtube.com/HondaRacingHPDTV.

The WeatherTech SportsCar Championship now takes one week off before resuming October 7 for the season-ending Petit Le Mans 10-hour endurance contest at Road Atlanta in Gainesville, Ga.

Andy Lally (driver, #93 Michael Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3) finished second today:  “Michael Shank Racing called an awesome race and it’s the strategy that put us [on the podium]. We came out of the box struggling this weekend. But Dale [Wise, technical director] and the guys put their heads together and gave us a really good setup in the morning warm up [final practice session] and it paid off. The NSX GT3 did a really great job maintaining its tires. It’s nice to stand on the podium and spray a little champagne. We came into this weekend thinking that we would be lucky to get a top five [result]. The MSR guys played a really smart strategy and we came out with second place.”

Katherine Legge (driver, #93 Michael Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3) finished second today: “It’s a testament to the strength of the Michael Shank Racing Acura team. It was all to do with strategy and saving fuel. We didn’t have the outright speed today, but we pulled it out. We ran as fast as we could while saving as much fuel as we could. Hopefully this will give us some momentum going to Petit Le Mans. We still need a little bit more speed.  We didn’t have it here, but it makes things a little bit easier. Hopefully we can go to Road Atlanta and finish the season off on a high note.”

Michael Shank (owner, Michael Shank Racing) on today’s race: “It really came down to fuel mileage. The #86 needed [to make up] five laps of fuel, while the #93 only needed two laps. We took the chance with the 93 [making it to the finish after the early stop] that the 86 couldn’t [do]. It’s unfortunate because Ozz [Negri] and Jeff [Segal] have been fast all weekend. It’s great to be back on the podium. This weekend is a great example of what we need to do to be successful, so I think this was a good way to go into [the season finale] Petit Le Mans.”

Lee Niffenegger (Acura NSX GT3 Project Leader, Honda Performance Development): “This was a great example of never giving up.  Both cars showed good pace throughout practice and, even though we had a disappointing qualifying session, the Michael Shank Racing team came up with a great strategy call mid-race.  The decision to split pit strategies between the #93 and #86 Acuras paid off with another podium finish for Andy [Lally] and Katherine [Legge], our fourth of the season in IMSA competition, including the victories at Detroit and Watkins Glen.  It’s unfortunate that Jeff [Segal] and Ozz [Negri] were unable to capitalize on the speed they demonstrated throughout the weekend in the #86 NSX GT3, but the decision to split the strategies was the correct call as the race played out.  It’s great to get another strong result for MSR and Acura after a couple of tough races, and we look forward to finishing the year with another good finish at the Petit Le Mans in two weeks.”

WASHINGTON, Sept. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Robert L. Greene, President & CEO of the National Association of Investment Companies (NAIC), today commended Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), and Congressman Gregory Meeks (D-NY), for their efforts towards removing barriers limiting diverse investment managers from participating in overseeing federal retirement plans. He also stressed the value of greater investment by federal and other entities with these high-performing managers.

“The recent report published by the General Accountability Office (GAO), affirms the message NAIC has been espousing for many years, that the under-utilization of diverse managers, at a time when they are the highest performing segment of the US Asset Managers is not only egregious but defies business logic,” says Greene. “We are calling upon all elected officials and fiduciaries to examine the practices and approaches that allow this negligent behavior to exist.”

Waters, Booker and Meeks jointly released a statement on a report by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) that confirmed the challenges faced by qualified managers. Titled Key Practices Could Provide More Options for Federal Entities and Opportunities for Minority- and Women-Owned Asset Managers,” the report also details steps that federal agencies could take to increase opportunities for these diverse investment professionals.

About the NAIC: The National Association of Investment Companies (www.naicpe.com) was founded in 1971 to serve as the industry association for diverse-owned and emerging managers, a number of which rank among the best performing private equity firms and hedge funds in the United States. With more than 40 member firms representing over $85 billion in assets managed, the NAIC is a recognized thought leader on the U.S. Emerging Domestic Market (EDM).

Decades before founding her eponymous studio, Lindsey Adelman was already designer — just not publicly so. First, she was simply a precarious, curious child, building endlessly in the backyards of suburban New York, uncertain of how to make a career of it; then, an English student at Kenyon College; then, on the editorial staff at The Smithsonian Institution. Fortunately, there, her accidental discovery of industrial design — in the literal form of a fabricated foam French fry — propelled her off to RISD to make a life of that childhood passion.
