Rookie Rossi, Honda Win 100th Indianapolis 500

Rookie Alexander Rossi celebrates in Indy 500 Victory Circle

INDIANAPOLIS, May 29, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Hondas have always been known for their exceptional fuel economy. Sunday, Indy rookie Alexander Rossi stretched his final tank of fuel for 36 laps to the checkers – four more laps than any other competitor – to win the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500. On a similar strategy, Carlos Munoz ran an impressive 32 laps after his final fill-up to make it a 1-2 finish for Honda and the Andretti Autosport team.

Rookie Alexander Rossi celebrates in Indy 500 Victory Circle

But Sunday’s victory for Rossi and Honda wasn’t just about saving fuel. He also turned the fastest lap of the race, at an average of 225.288 mph, with his Andretti Autosport teammate Marco Andretti producing the second-fastest race lap, at 224.772 mph.

Today’s victory was a record-extending 11th for Honda in 16 attempts at the “500”, starting in 1994, the most of any major automobile manufacturer. Rossi was one of seven Honda drivers to lead portions of today’s race. Pole qualifier James Hinchclife and outside front-row starter Ryan Hunter-Reay combined to lead all but two of the first 30 laps. Other Honda leaders included Munoz, Townsend Bell, Bryan Clauson and Alex Tagliani.

A series of mid-race incidents led several teams – including those of Rossi, Munoz and Tagliani – to go “off-sequence” on their pit strategy. That proved to be the correct call when Takuma Sato brushed the wall on Lap 163, bringing out the caution flag just inside the final pit window for both Rossi and Munoz. Restarting in seventh and eight, respectively, the pair cycled up the order as the leaders made their final stops for a splash of fuel in the closing laps. It was only on Lap 197 that Rossi assumed the lead, taking the checkers one lap later as the newest American winner of the Indianapolis 500.

Video recaps from this month’s Honda racing activities at Indianapolis, including today’s Indianapolis 500, are being posted on the “Honda Racing/HPD” YouTube channel. Produced by the Carolinas Production Group, the video packages can be found in the 2015 HPD Trackside Video Playlist at: https://www.youtube.com/HondaRacingHPDTV.

IndyCar Series teams and drivers now prepare for a hectic schedule of three races over the next two weeks, starting with next weekend’s June 4-5 double-header weekend with races both Saturday and Sunday on the Belle Isle street circuit in Detroit, Michigan.

Alexander Rossi (#98 Andretti Herta Autosport Honda) started 11th, finished 1st, first rookie 500 winner in 16 years, first IndyCar Series victory: “I have no idea how we pulled that off! We struggled a bit in the early pit stops, but then Bryan [Herta, team co-owner] came up with an unbelievable strategy. Ryan [Hunter-Reay] was incredibly helpful – he gave me a tow at the end to produce an amazing 1-2 result. It’s phenomenal. It will change my life, for sure. I have to thank Michael Andretti and Bryan for giving me such a wonderful race car all month. I’ll cherish the fact that, at one point, we were last, but we rolled the dice and we came through and made it happen. The [winner’s] milk tasted better than anything I’ve ever had.”

Carlos Munoz (#26 Andretti Autosport Honda) started 5th, finished 2nd: “I knew I had the car to win in the first half of the race. I was just holding my position, the engine was pulling so good. But the last part of the race, I was pushing really hard. I was sliding everywhere the last two stints. I was really disappointed to get second, just half a lap short. But man, it was a close one. I am happy for the team, 1-2 for Andretti, 1-2 for Honda. One day, I will win this race.”

Art St. Cyr (President, Honda Performance Development) on today’s race and 11th Honda victory at the Indianapolis 500: “That 100th running of the Indy 500 had a little bit of everything: clean, long runs at the beginning, followed by unfortunate incidents in the pits mid-race, to finish up as a strategy and fuel economy nail-biter – all the things that make Indy car racing exciting. After dominating the first half of the race, it was gratifying to know that we had enough depth to cover both the fuel economy strategy, and the max power strategy. It makes all the incredibly hard work performed by HPD over the past year worthwhile. Congratulations to Alexander [Rossi] for an incredible performance in his ‘500’ debut.”

ANAHEIM, Calif., May 26, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion,” a new theatrical adaptation based on Disney’s animated blockbuster film, opens May 27 at the Hyperion Theater at Disney California Adventure Park in Southern California.

This new theatrical interpretation for the stage immerses audiences in the beloved world of Frozen and takes audiences on the heartwarming journey of Anna and Elsa, with all of the excitement of live theater. Under the direction of Tony Award® nominated Director Liesl Tommy, the show features elaborate costumes and sets, stunning special effects, and show-stopping production numbers. An exceptionally large production, the show features an opening cast and crew of more than 200, six full musical numbers and a 2,200 square foot video wall which combine for an unforgettable theatrical experience.

Disney Creative Entertainment, the arm of Walt Disney Imagineering responsible for live theatrical entertainment at Disney Parks, has produced this new stage interpretation of “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” with all of the creativity and resources of its predecessor “Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” which ran for a remarkable 13 years at the 2,000 seat Hyperion Theater.

As would be expected from Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Parks, new technologies – especially with projections, fabrics and special effects — will delight audiences in new and unexpected ways.  Guests are immersed in the world of “Frozen” from the moment they enter the theater and are surrounded by a specially lit “Aurora” curtain. As the musical unfolds, the scenic design and large moving set pieces create a cinema-style energy enhanced by state-of-the-art projections that create dynamic environments for the performers. Custom sound design envelops the audience in music and audio effects. And, of course, there will be snow throughout the interior of the theater – on stage and over the audience.

“Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” is based on the Walt Disney Animation Studios “Frozen,” which is the number one animated feature of all time.  It is the winner of two Academy Awards (2014) for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

“While our production of ‘ Frozen‘ stays true to the heart and soul of the film, we have adapted it for the stage so it’s truly a musical theater production that befits our beautiful Hyperion Theater,” said Dana Harrel, creative entertainment executive with Walt Disney Imagineering.  “The goal of this creative team is to take all audiences – including those who know the film, and those new to these characters – on this exciting and touching adventure with Anna and Elsa.

“We know that for many in the audience — adults and children alike – this production will be a first or rare theater-going experience, and we want to make it as magical as possible.”

The new adaptation features music and lyrics by the creators of the film score, Kristen Anderson-Lopez (“In Transit,” “Up Here”) and Robert Lopez (“Avenue Q,” “The Book of Mormon,” “Up Here”), and is adapted from the screenplay by four-time Tony Award® nominee Chad Beguelin (“Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” at Hyperion Theater; Broadway: “Gotta Dance,” “Aladdin,” “The Wedding Singer,” “Elf”).

Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” is directed by Tommy, who was recently nominated for a Tony Award® for her Broadway show “Eclipsed.” The choreographer is Christopher Windom and this is his seventh collaboration with Tommy.  The musical supervisor/arranger/adaptor is Jason Michael Webb, whose Broadway credits include “The Color Purple,” “Motown: The Musical,” “Violet,” and “Memphis.”  Clint Ramos, the principal costume designer, was also nominated this year for a Tony Award® for his work on “Eclipsed.”

“I am approaching ‘Frozen’ as I would any new work – to search the story for what resonates most emotionally,  which is the story of the relationship between Anna and Elsa, their coming of age and conquering their worst fears,” explains Director Tommy.  “It’s what made the movie so intensely satisfying and fresh. The theatrical version of ‘Frozen’ that my designers and I are creating for the Hyperion builds on the film’s emotional intensity using beautiful performances, thrilling choreography and the most cutting-edge design elements.”

A great amount of creative energies have been employed to bring “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” to the stage.  Harrel and Tommy have assembled a team of creative talent from both Broadway and Disney to create this production. The principal designers are Robert Brill (scenery), Charles Lapointe (wigs), David Weiner (lighting), Aaron Rhyne (projections) and Broken Chord (audio), and Ramos (costumes).

The challenge of bringing the animated non-human characters of Sven and Olaf to the stage was assigned to master puppet designer Michael Curry, who co-designed with director Julie Taymor the animal creations of “The Lion King” on Broadway, the magic mirror in “Snow White: An Enchanted Musical” at Fantasyland Theatre, and many other Disney parades, shows and projects, as well as projects for Cirque du Soleil and the Metropolitan Opera. Curry’s intricate designs created for Olaf and Sven allow the performers to connect with the characters and bring them to life on stage in new ways.

An entirely separate two-act Broadway production of “Frozen” is currently being prepared by Disney Theatrical Productions and is slated to join Disney Theatrical’s New York productions of “Aladdin” and “The Lion King” for spring 2018 at a theater to be announced. It will have a pre-Broadway engagement starting in summer 2017 in Denver.

Don Omar aclara rumores en exclusiva en Mega 97.9FM y el Nuevo Zol 106.7FM con Alex Sensation

NEW YORK, May 26, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Puerto Rican superstar Don Omar, puts an end to the rumors in an exclusive interview on the #1 radio station in the United States, Mega 97.9FM in New York property of Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. (SBS) (Nasdaq: SBSA). Don Omar spoke with Alex Sensation host of the most-listened to radio show “La Mega Mezcla con Alex Sensation” on MEGA 97.9FM in New York City, which is broadcast simultaneously in South Florida on El NUEVO ZOL 106.7FM.

Don Omar Puts An End To The Rumors In Exclusive Interview With Alex Sensation On Mega 97.9FM And El Nuevo Zol 106.7FM

The artist confirmed exclusively during his interview that “The Kingdom” Daddy Yankee vs Don Omar tour will in fact take place on July 30th in New York City, August 6th in Miami and August 27th in Los Angeles, among other cities.

Rumors stemmed after Don Omar supposedly left the stage at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where he was appearing alongside Daddy Yankee for a performance. Don Omar’s actions could have been due to some differences that began during the recent Billboard Latin Music Awards, where both artists seemed somewhat distant. According to international media, rumor was that Don Omar had his back facing Daddy Yankee.

“I feel that I have the responsibility to my fans to set the record straight and explain what really went down that night. A lot of people thought I had left Vegas and that I left Daddy Yankee stranded on stage, but that’s not the truth. The fact is that Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world and anyone who’s had the opportunity to see a show in Vegas, knows that they all end at 11:30 at night, because for casinos their business is to have people gamble… so the venue turned on the lights, and when I saw that I said my goodbyes to the crowd,” confirmed Don Omar during his radio interview with Alex Sensation on Mega 97.9FM.

“The Vegas show was delayed an hour and a half, things that happen in production, that have nothing to do with Daddy Yankee and have nothing to do with Don Omar, and don’t have anything to do with any animosities between me and Daddy Yankee,” affirmed Don Omar. “I don’t control production, and I have nothing to do with them turning the lights on during the show, my show did not happen due to time constraints.”

Félix Cabrera Presenta and LaMusica production teams have confirmed the tour dates for “The Kingdom” Daddy Yankee vs Don Omar. The tour kicks off on July 30th at Madison Square Garden in New York City, then on August 6th at the American Airlines Arena in Miami and to Los Angeles on August 27th, as we all want to crown the real King of Reggaetón. The tickets for these huge concerts go on presale beginning June 9th on www.ticketmaster.com.

“The Kingdom”: Daddy Yankee vs Don Omar, is one of the most anticipated tours in the Hispanic market. The two stars joined forces for 60 stops and two years of international tour on December 5, 2015 in San Juan Puerto Rico.

Daddy Yankee and Don Omar have both taken reggaetón to mainstream and the general market. Among the two, they have 11 number one hits on the Billboard Latin Album charts, 28 top 10 hits on Hot Latin Songs chart, and more than 4 billion views combined in their VEVO channels. Don Omar has had innovative hits with “Danza Kuduro” and “Virtual Diva,” which have transcended culture boundaries.  Likewise, Daddy Yankee has an arsenal of hits beginning with the famous “Gasolina” to his most recent single “Vaivén” and “Shaky Shaky,” which are moving up the charts.

After four sold-out concerts in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Daddy Yankee and Don Omar are prepared for the US leg of their tour.

Use Your Spare Time to Check Your Tires

0

BETHESDA, Md., May 26, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — National Tire Safety Week begins May 29 and the Car Care Council urges vehicle owners to inspect their tires for wear and tear, as well as check tire pressure and alignment.

According to a national survey conducted by the Rubber Manufacturers Association, only 17 percent of drivers are considered “tire smart” and know the correct way to check their tire pressure.

“Underinflated tires are under stress and will eventually wear unevenly, making them a safety hazard, not to mention an added expense since the worn out tires will have to be replaced sooner,” said Rich White, executive director, Car Care Council. “Properly inflated tires will not only help keep you safe on the road, but will improve gas mileage and performance.”

The Car Care Council recommends that vehicle owners check the pressure of all tires, including the spare, on a monthly basis and more often during colder weather. Tires should be inflated to recommended pressure levels, rotated every 6,000 miles to promote uniform tire wear and be replaced if worn or damaged.

The penny test is a popular and simple way to check tire tread. If you see Lincoln’s head above the tread, than it is time for new tires. In addition, the tread should be checked for uneven or irregular wear as well as cuts or bruises along sidewalls.

“Tires are such an important safety issue that you can’t take their condition lightly,” continued White. “Routinely checking tire balance and wheel alignment will reduce tire wear and improve handling.”

The Car Care Council is the source of information for the “Be Car Care Aware” consumer education campaign promoting the benefits of regular vehicle care, maintenance and repair to consumers. For a free copy of the council’s 80-page Car Care Guide or for more information, visit www.carcare.org.
