SAN FRANCISCO, May 26, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Hey guys, impress your friends and family by creating an epic meal. Registered Dietitian Manuel Villacorta, author of Whole Body Reboot, shows you how to up the ante with recipes, cooking demos and health tips.

Experience the interactive Multimedia News Release here: http://www.multivu.com/players/English/7721551-canola-council-cooking/

‘Tis the season of warm weather, group gatherings and festive fare. It’s also time for men, and those who love them, to pay attention to how they’re treating their bodies. While exercise is important, it’s just as vital to maintain a healthy diet. Guys, we know you’re experts on the grill and we’ve got some new recipes for you to try. Take your culinary skills up a level by expanding into the kitchen, too. Magical meals await!

When thinking about preparing savory and delicious meals, think about using canola oil. Canola oil has the least amount of saturated fat among common cooking oils (half that of olive and soybean oils), it has the most plant-based omega-3 fat of all common cooking oils, there’s zero trans-fat and is a good source of vitamin E.

“I often recommend to my male clients different dishes that are easy to prepare, are a good source of protein and are heart-healthy.” says Manuel Villacorta, R.D. and spokesperson for CanolaInfo. “When I cook, I want an oil that’s versatile and that I can incorporate and customize into any meal. With canola oil, I get that while benefiting my body and my health. It’s a win/win.”

Since we know that the kitchen can be an intimidating place, Manuel has pulled together three simple tips you can do in the kitchen to create mouthwatering and nutritious meals:

  1. DIY: If there’s one incredible thing you could do for your health, it’s to cook your own meals. You can’t control your nutrition or your health if you don’t know what you’re putting in your body.
  2. Experiment for peak performance: Peak performance means owning what you eat, and that means getting to know your kitchen. Mess around in the kitchen and embrace mistakes – it’s all fun, and the food is probably still edible!
  3. Heat things up: When swapping the grill for the stove, keep the heat by using canola oil — it has a high smoke point.

Follow Manuel’s tips and check out the below “Step Up to the Plate” recipes, fit for any type of foodie, by visiting the recipe collection at CanolaInfo.org.

Honda's James Hinchcliffe will start from the pole in Sunday's 100th running of the Indianapolis 500

TORRANCE, Calif., May 25, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — As the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 approaches on Sunday, Honda and its Honda Performance Development racing subsidiary will be starting the historic race from a position of strength, with a Honda driver on the coveted pole and having claimed eight of the top 12 starting positions.

Honda's James Hinchcliffe will start from the pole in Sunday's 100th running of the Indianapolis 500

“We’re honored to be part of the Indianapolis 500 for the historic 100th running of the race, and proud of what Honda power has contributed to this great American open-wheel racing tradition,” said Art St. Cyr, President of HPD. “Honda’s racing spirit runs deep, and the passion we bring to the track, joined to our commitment to innovation and continuous improvement, touches all aspects of our company and its products.”

James Hinchcliffe turned the fastest laps in both first-round and final qualifying last weekend to take the pole in his Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Honda. Ryan Hunter-Reay, the 2014 Indy 500 champion with Honda and Andretti Autosport, will start on the outside of the front row, in third.

A pair of Andretti Autosport entries, driven by Townsend Bell and Carlos Munoz, will start on the second row, in fourth and fifth places, respectively. Mikhail Aleshin, Hinchcliffe’s teammate, will start seventh in the second of three Schmidt Peterson Motorsports entries, as Honda drivers held the edge in “Fast Nine” final qualifying on Sunday.

The fourth of the eleven rows of three that make up the historic starting field is all-Honda, led by Oriol Servia, who qualified 10th in the third Schmidt Peterson Honda. Next to Servia at the start of Sunday’s race will be Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi, the quickest rookie in the field, with the Honda of Takuma Sato starting 12th, driving for the legendary A.J. Foyt. Although just missing out on Sunday’s “Fast Nine” session, third-generation racer Marco Andretti starts from the middle of the fifth row, 14th, in his Andretti Autosport Honda.

Starting on the inside of the eighth row, 21st, will be Gabby Chaves, the 2015 Rookie of the Year at the Speedway, who will lead the four-Honda effort from Dale Coyne Racing. Teammates Conor Daly and Pippa Mann will start 24th and 25th respectively, with Bryan Clauson qualifying 28th in his Dale Coyne Honda.

Graham Rahal will be seeking to follow in his father Bobby’s footsteps as an Indy 500 champion, starting 26th, with rookie Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing teammate Spencer Pigot lining up 29th. Honda’s 17-car field is rounded out by the A.J. Foyt Racing duo of Jack Hawksworth, making his third “500” start from 31st, while veteran Alex Tagliani completes the grid, starting 33rd after a crash during his qualifying run.

Honda is the most successful car maker of all-time at the Indy 500, winning more races, having more starts and completing more laps than any other auto manufacturer in the 99 previous editions of the event. Since 1994, Honda has taken part in 15 Indianapolis 500 races, and powered 10 race winners at The Brickyard.

During 23 years of uninterrupted IndyCar competition, Honda has won 12 manufacturers’ championships, with Honda-powered drivers winning 217 races and 15 series championships – a record unmatched by any other automaker since Honda entered the series in 1994.

Too Young? Too Old? POND’S® Rejuveness and Actress Jordana Brewster Inspire Women to Go Beyond Age Limits to Become Their Best Selves

0
Actress Jordana Brewster is #AntiAgeLimits with POND'S(R) Rejuveness

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., May 25, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Whether in social media or magazine headlines, the ageism conversation around women being “too old” or “too young” to pursue seemingly every activity under the sun has never been greater.

POND’S® – a global skincare brand rooted in heritage and innovation – surveyed* 1,000 American women across generations to better understand how they perceive age limitations in their own lives. POND’S® uncovered that nearly 7 out of 10 women – from Millennials to Baby Boomers – agree that society places arbitrary age limits on what women can do. Knowing this, 92% percent of women still feel a woman can be too old or too young for certain activities and assigned threshold ages to everything from dating online and getting married to starting a family and even changing careers.

This dichotomy inspired POND’S® new #AntiAgeLimits initiative with actress Jordana Brewster for its Rejuveness moisturizer. Both partners believe that age limits shouldn’t hold women back from becoming their best selves at any age. Made with collagen, vitamin E and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), Rejuveness is ideal for women of all generations since it helps moisturize, smooth and improve the healthy appearance of skin. Selling one jar every 10 seconds**, it defies the limits of what one jar can do. With over 70% of women overwhelmed by the amount of anti-aging skincare options at the shelf and the majority using between two to five products, Rejuveness is an effective and smart solution.

POND’S® ambassador Brewster has experienced age limits herself firsthand.  “Everyone seems to have a preconceived notion of what your timeline should be.”  Brewster continues, “I’ve personally had a very unconventional path. I delayed school to start acting at a young age – despite many telling me that I should wait until I was older – and now that I’ve been acting for years, people seem surprised to hear that I’m hoping to try my hand at new things like writing and producing as I get older.” Her advice to women?  “Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re too old or too young.”

“Even as new doors for women continue to open, the research clearly shows that there’s still plenty of work to be done in erasing the notion of what is ‘age-appropriate’,” says Unilever Skincare Marketing Director Suzanne Palentchar. She continues, “POND’S® has been delivering skincare solutions to women – and watching them defy age limits – for over 170 years. Given the brand’s rich history, it made sense to survey women of all ages and get a pulse on how they’re perceiving age limits and feeling the impact in their own lives.”

The Results Are In:  Are You Ever Too Old or Too Young To …

Almost every woman surveyed felt there are one or more activities that women are too old or too young to pursue.

  • Dating online: 59 is too old & 20 is too young
  • Wearing makeup: 65 is too old & 17 is too young
  • Being the CEO: 59 is too old & 24 is too young
  • Having kids: 46 is too old & 20 is too young
  • Starting a new career: 55 is too old & 23 is too young
  • Getting married: Age 64 is too old & 19 is too young
  • Backpacking around the world: Age 54 is too old & 21 is too young

POND’S® also discovered differing generational viewpoints when it comes to aging and its perceived limitations:

  • Millennials claim to see signs of aging starting from age 18 – 29 – earlier than Gen X-ers and Baby Boomers
  • 83% of Baby Boomers feel you are never too old or young to fall in love
  • Only 1% of Baby Boomers felt you can be too old to use the internet
  • 40% of Gen X-ers were most comfortable with themselves in their 30’s while 31% of Baby Boomers were most comfortable in their 50’s

Guests also dined and danced the night away to a set by Venezuelan pop duo Chino y Nacho, with DJ Mauricio Parra spinning late into the evening. The event was all in the name of the lifesaving mission of St. Jude, which is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancers and other life-threatening diseases.

Additionally, Miami-based businesswoman and philanthropist Patty Gutierrez also was honored for her longtime fundraising work with St. Jude. Gutiérrez’s son Stephan is a former St. Jude patient who at the age of 11 was diagnosed with a rare cancerous tumor in his stomach. Stephan, now 21, is finished with treatment and is currently pursuing a college degree in Boston. He returns to St. Jude for checkups annually.

“As a mother of a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital cancer survivor, I’m deeply touched by the lifesaving mission of the hospital,” said Gutierrez.” I have experienced firsthand the darkness of the cancer. St Jude gave me my son’s life back and gave me the opportunity to help brighten up the lives of other families that are going through difficult times.”

The event was co-hosted by actress and TV personality Karla Monroig and Enrique Santos, host of the nationally syndicated “Enrique Santos Show” on Univision Radio. Additional presenters included actress Elizabeth Gutierrez and CNN en Espanol’s Ismael Cala. The gala counted with the support of some of television and music’s most notable stars, including Alberto Sardiñas, Alejandro Chabán, Alexandra Pomales, Candela Ferro, Enrique Acevedo, Francisca Lachapel, Franser Pazos, Irma Martínez, Jomari Goyso, Jorge Bernal, Khotan Fernández, Luis Alfonso Borrego, Oscar Serrano, Paula Arcila, Poncho de Anda, Raúl González, Scarlet Gruber, Tony Dandrades, Ximena Córdoba, and Zuleyka Rivera, Maity Interiano, & Alina Robert.

Past gala honorees include some of the most recognized and celebrated artists in Latin music and entertainment for their humanitarian work, such as Don Francisco, Romero Britto, Juanes, Emilio and Gloria Estefan, Luis Fonsi, Juan Luis Guerra, Tommy and Thalia Mottola, Chef Adrianne Calvo and Coach Don Shula.

About St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent since the hospital opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent, and we won’t stop until no child dies from cancer. St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
