Developed from a production-model 2016 Civic Coupe chassis by renowned builders and racers Olsbergs MSE (OMSE) with technical assistance from Honda Performance Development (HPD), the all-new Civic Red Bull GRC car is built to withstand the rigorous demands of racing in a series that emphasizes repeated aggressive acceleration and varied terrain. The car will boast more than 600 horsepower, turn in a 0-60 mph time of 1.9 seconds and is designed to handle the 70 foot table-top jumps featured on each racetrack.

Driving the 2016 Honda Civic Red Bull GRC car for Team Honda are experienced competitors and former teammates Sebastian Eriksson and Joni Wiman. Eriksson, from Sweden, and Wiman, from Finland, have both made their mark in the series, with Wiman winning the 2014 Global Rallycross Championship and Eriksson finishing second in 2015. The two met in competition during the 2013 GRC Lites season, where Eriksson finished runner-up to Wiman, who swept the series.

Being built on the same world-class platform as the 10th-generation Civic Sedan, the 2017 Civic Hatchback will be defined by an unparalleled combination of sportiness, efficiency and utility, with distinctive styling and premium features that enthusiasts demand. The five-door hatchback will feature one powertrain for the U.S. market, a 1.5-liter DOHC direct-injected Turbo engine that can be mated to either a sporty CVT or a slick-shifting 6-speed manual transmission.

New larger and wider wheels and tires give a feeling of an assured stance, while the long wheelbase, short overhangs and sleek cabin area further add to the dynamic feel of the exterior. At the front of the car, a short overhang with large air intakes presents a sharp and aggressive interpretation of Honda’s family face. LED headlights and daytime running lights flow from beneath the boldly sculpted hood into the muscular front wheel arches. 

The sleek and swept-back body lines continue along the side of the car with a crease that incorporates front and rear door handles before culminating in the distinctive C-shaped LED rear lights. A second, lower character line extends from behind the front wheels up through the doors and meets the rear wheel arches, emphasizing the car’s dynamic forward-leaning stance. At the rear, the bumper incorporates angular creases and vents, designed to echo the aggressively styled nature of the rest of the car.

New Jersey and San Antonio Students Eligible for Collegiate Scholarships

PRINCETON, New Jersey, March 22, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Graduating seniors in the New Jersey and San Antonio public education system are invited to apply for a 2016 ETS Employees’ Community Action Fund (ECAF) scholarship.

ECAF will offer awards up to $10,000 each to selected students who are pursuing a degree in the United States.

Student applicants will be evaluated based on their educational experience; community involvement and activities; demonstrated leadership as indicated in the application materials; writing samples; academic transcripts; recommendation; and need, as determined using the Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and/or any hardship defined on the scholarship application.

The application materials will be reviewed by an independent selection review committee whose goal is to identify the most well rounded individuals to receive awards.

Eligible students must be:

  • a New Jersey or San Antonio public high school senior graduating in May/June 2016
  • facing difficult circumstances or serious and verifiable hardships affecting their ability to attend college
  • in active pursuit of a degree in a nonprofit postsecondary institution (2- or 4-year college/university, or vocational/technical school)
  • enrolled full-time in an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the fall of 2016

The scholarship program is administered by International Scholarship and Tuition Services, Inc. (ISTS).
