Fiesta Mart Continues Reinvigoration with 5 DFW Reopenings in October

The first Minyard store to officially transition to Fiesta opened last week at Lake June Road in Dallas; two additional previously acquired Minyard stores and two remodeled Fiesta stores will also host grand reopenings this month. The newly remodeled Fiesta store on Pioneer Parkway in Arlington and the former Minyard on Shady Grove in Irving will both host celebrations October 19.

The Forrester Consulting study, How B2B Sellers Win in the Age of the Customer, included surveys of both B2B buyers and sellers to evaluate a range of selling models – from Static to Evolved – and to understand the impact each model has on buyer behaviors and business results.  In a Static Selling model, sellers use email, intranet sites or corporate portals to find and prepare content prior to a meeting, and compile it in a presentation like PowerPoint. In contrast, an Evolved Selling model allows sellers to use a buyer-centric approach through four key capabilities: 

  • Dynamic: ability to assemble and present content from various sources on the fly
  • Interactive: ability for the seller to capture input from the buyer to guide the discussion
  • Data-driven insights: ability to pull specific data in real time from various sources (e.g., subscription service like Nielsen or internal database such as a customer relationship management (CRM) system), revealing relevant insights
  • CRM feedback: ability to capture and analyze how specific content or interactions impact sales results within a company’s existing customer relationship management platform

San Diego Residential Care Company Violated Overtime, Minimum Wage Laws; 15 Caregivers to Receive Over $1.1 Million in Back Wages, Damages

Investigation findings: The California Labor Commissioner’s Office launched its investigation in July 2015 after receiving an anonymous tip. Investigators found the residential care business in violation of minimum wage, overtime and recordkeeping provisions of the California Labor Code. The employer paid the 15 caregivers less than $4 an hour for 24-hour shifts five days a week. The workers, most of them women who recently emigrated from the Philippines, were obliged to sleep in the rooms with their patients and pay their employer $180 each week for food and lodging.

Resolution: The employer must pay the 15 workers $331,843 in lost minimum wages, $386,602 in overtime wages and $393,158 in liquidated damages. When workers are paid less than minimum wage they are entitled to liquidated damages, which equal the amount of underpaid wages plus interest. The caregivers’ back wages owed range from $4,326 to $45,401 depending on the amount of time worked.
