California Schools Win “Got Milk?” Breakfast Challenge

Students Receive More than $40,000 for Student Activities

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., Nov. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Select high schools from across California have been crowned “Breakfast Champs” by the California Milk Processor Board (CMPB), the creator of got milk?, with each school receiving a check for $3,000. Thousands of students participated in the friendly three-week competition during back-to-school season to see which campus, within their district, could increase breakfast consumption with milk in school compared to the same time period as the year before.  This year 69 California high schools (more than 131,806 students) stepped up to the challenge, increasing breakfast participation by up to 54% in their respective school.

  • Sacramento: Rosemont High School, Sacramento – 14%; Franklin High School, Stockton – 4%

“Good nutrition, starting with a healthy breakfast with milk, is an essential part of the preparation our kids need in order to succeed in school and boost them toward a better future,” said Steve James, Executive Director of the CMPB. “The Breakfast Challenge is a fun way to reward students for doing what every mom tells their teenager to do – eat your breakfast.”

Studies shown that eating breakfast helps students do better in mathematics and school overall. Breakfast also boosts vitamin intake, helping increase energy and focus.1 To encourage daily breakfast consumption with milk at high school cafeterias the CMPB partnered with 15 school districts across the Golden State for the 7th annual got milk? Breakfast Challenge. The campuses with the greatest breakfast participation with milk in each district won $3,000 towards student activities for a grand total of more than $40,000 statewide.

This year got milk? also included an opportunity for California teens ages 13 to 18 to participate in the Breakfast Challenge via social media. Got milk? encouraged students to post pictures of their breakfast with milk either on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and tag the image using the hashtag #gotmilkinmybreakfast for a chance to win. Three winners securing the most likes for their photo on the Facebook contest page were selected. Grand Prize  winner Bailey Williams received $1,000 while runner-up winners Edgar Alejandre and Lizandra Pena each received a $200 gift card prize.

About the CMPB

The California Milk Processor Board was established in 1993 to make milk more competitive and increase milk consumption in California. Awareness of got milk? is over 90% nationally and it is considered one of the most important and successful campaigns in history. Got milk? is a federally registered trademark that has been licensed by the national dairy boards since 1995. The CMPB’s Spanish-language campaign began in 1994 using the tagline “Familia, Amor y Leche” (Family, Love and Milk). The TOMA LECHE (Drink Milk) campaign replaced it in 2006, in order to better align the English and Spanish language work. The CMPB is funded by all California milk processors and administered by the California Department of Food and Agriculture.

Disneyland Resort Welcomes Anna and Elsa from ‘Frozen’ to ‘A Christmas Fantasy’ Parade for the Holidays; Celebrating the Season Now through Jan. 6, 2015

Merriment Includes ‘World of Color – Winter Dreams and ‘Disney ¡Viva Navidad!’ at Disney California Adventure Park, ‘Believe … in Holiday Magic’ fireworks at Disneyland Park and ‘Olaf’s Frozen Ice Rink’ at Downtown Disney

ANAHEIM, Calif., Nov. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The Happiest Place on Earth Just Gets Merrier as Anna and Elsa from Walt Disney Pictures’ animated hit “Frozen” join the annual holiday celebration at the Disneyland Resort. The Holidays bring themed entertainment, sparkling decorations, delicious treats, festive traditions and holiday shopping to locations throughout the Resort.

DISNEY HOLIDAY MAGIC - The holiday season finds "Sleeping Beauty's Winter Castle" at Disneyland covered in freshly fallen snow, now through Jan. 6, 2015. With its shimmering colors, the Castle serves as an exciting centerpiece for a daytime holiday celebration. As evening arrives, the Castle undergoes a transformation as special lighting effects and a musical score take guests on a journey that dramatizes a young child's dream for snow!

Among the highlights of the season, Nov. 13 through Jan. 6, 2015, is the return of the breathtaking “World of Color – Winter Dreams” holiday spectacular – with new songs added from the “Frozen” soundtrack. Also returning to Disney California Adventure Park is the festive “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” holiday celebration and the grand finale of the season, a five-day celebration of Three Kings Day.

Holiday time at Disneyland Resort has become an annual tradition for many guests, filled with an abundance of merriment, tradition and magical memories. This year Disney Parks invites guests to “Show Your Disney Side” as they explore all there is to see and do. Expanded hours at both Disneyland Resort theme parks extend the family fun time, while the Downtown Disney Winter Village offers a chance to play and skate at “Olaf’s Frozen Ice Rink.”

At Disneyland Park

At Disneyland Park, holiday traditions include the popular “A Christmas Fantasy” parade, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year by welcoming Anna and Elsa from “Frozen” into the cast. They are among the 100-plus parade performers, including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, other Disney characters and Santa Claus, making a special appearance from the North Pole.

When Santa isn’t appearing in “A Christmas Fantasy,” he and Mrs. Claus are greeting guests and listening to holiday wishes at the Jingle Jangle Jamboree in Big Thunder Ranch in Disneyland. Jingle Jangle Jamboree comes to life with Disney characters, music, games, cookie decorating, crafts and seasonal entertainment. New this year on the Jamboree stage is a comedy and music show that invites guests to laugh and sing along in a wacky tale of Christmas in the West.

Additional beloved holiday traditions at Disneyland include:

  • Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle – A sensational holiday lighting and special-effects show carries the magic of the holidays from the castle all the way to the 60-foot tall Disneyland Christmas tree in Town Square. The finale of the show includes the legendary “Believe … in Holiday Magic” fireworks show, ending with a touching rendition of “White Christmas” and a climactic snowfall swirling upon Main Street, U.S.A., “it’s a small world” Mall and New Orleans Square.
  • “it’s a small world” Holiday becomes  a worldwide celebration of the season, boasting more than 300,000 glittering lights on its facade and, inside, the children of many nations in their holiday attire. After dark, the smiling clock at the front of “it’s a small world” reveals a sparkling projection show. On every quarter hour, the facade of the attraction is transformed into an enormous clockwork mechanism with advanced 3D-projection technology. The gears and springs pull back to reveal a world of holiday wonders hidden behind the clock.
  • Haunted Mansion Holiday presents a madcap celebration as the traditions of Halloween and Christmas collide.  The ghoulish but well-meaning Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” has come to Haunted Mansion to transform it with his skewed vision of the holidays, including the newest version of the Haunted Mansion gingerbread house.
  • The skippers of “Jingle Cruise” bring holiday fun to a seasonal version of the celebrated Adventureland attraction – and it’s newly enhanced this year.
  • Special holiday food items include Walt’s favorite gingerbread cookies at Jolly Holiday Bakery and Cafe and holiday tamale plates at Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante. Elf Mickey premium popcorn buckets and drink steins are available in both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
  • Guests may book the seasonal favorite “Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort” guided tour which provides entry (subject to availability) into “it’s a small world” Holiday, Haunted Mansion Holiday and Jingle Cruise along with reserved seating and a holiday treat while enjoying “A Christmas Fantasy” parade. The tour also includes viewing of the holiday decor in Disney California Adventure, a keepsake remembrance and entertaining information about Disneyland holiday traditions.  For information and reservations guests may visit any Disneyland Resort Guest Relations location or call (714) 781-TOUR (781-8687).

At Disney California Adventure Park

After its successful 2013 debut, “World of Color − Winter Dreams” returns to Disney California Adventure with several “Frozen” songs in the show, including “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and “Love is an Open Door.” Also returning to the nighttime spectacular is Olaf the snowman from “Frozen.” The holiday version of the popular “World of Color” show features classic winter scenes from such beloved Disney and Disney-Pixar films as “Bambi,” “Toy Story” and, of course, “Frozen.”

“Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” at Paradise Gardens in Disney California Adventure is a daily celebration inspired by the warmth and joyous spirit of Latino culture and holiday traditions, with festive music and dancing, vibrant colors, delicious food, Disney character appearances and the lively “Disney Viva Navidad! Street Party.” “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” will conclude with a five-day celebration of the traditional Three Kings Day, Friday through Tuesday, Jan. 2 through 6, 2015.

Additional holiday highlights at Disney California Adventure include:

  • As part of the park’s seasonal makeover, a whimsical “snowcar” (the Radiator Springs version of a snowman) stands at the entrance to Cars Land, and each address along Route 66 – Flo’s V-8 Cafe, Fillmore’s, Cozy Cone Motel, Luigi’s Casa della Tires and more – features holiday decor that reflects the personality of the “Cars” character who lives there.
  • A dazzling, 50-foot Christmas tree adorns Carthay Circle along Buena Vista Street. The tree and surrounding buildings, inspired by Los Angeles as it appeared when Walt Disney arrived in the 1920s, are decorated with vintage-style ornaments.
  • Children of all ages may visit a classic department store Santa at Elias & Co., the main department store along Buena Vista Street.
  • Wintertime fun rocks the night at “Mad T Party” as Alice and the Mad Hatter add their own brand of off-kilter holiday spirit to the nighttime celebration in Hollywood Land.
  • “a bug’s land” transforms as Flik and his bug buddies spread giant Christmas lights and oversized ornaments throughout their realm.
  • Special holiday food items include sourdough bread in holiday shapes at Boudin’s and homemade turkey pot pie soup in a sourdough bread bowl at Pacific Wharf Cafe. Elf Mickey premium popcorn buckets and drink steins are available in both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

Downtown Disney District and Hotels of the Disneyland Resort

In the Downtown Disney District, guests may take a break from their holiday shopping and dining to go skating on “Olaf’s Frozen Ice Rink.” The rink opens for 60-minute skating sessions from 3 to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and 3 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. This year, the Downtown Disney Winter Village around Olaf’s Frozen Ice Rink is bigger than ever, offering shoppers holiday gift items such as “Frozen” plush toys, holiday crystal from Arribas Brothers, art works, clothing and accessories, all sold from the windows of the charming village houses. Hot chocolate from Ghirardelli along with coffee, sweets and baked goods from La Brea Bakery are also available at the Downtown Disney Winter Village.

The Hotels of the Disneyland Resort join in the holiday festivities with twinkling lights and ornaments, special entertainment and holiday dining with themed menus. The six-foot-high gingerbread house in the spacious lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is large enough for hot chocolate to be sold from its window. Guests also will enjoy new and favorite menu items at Napa Rose in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and at Steakhouse 55 in the Disneyland Hotel, which recently debuted a seasonal Chef’s Tasting Menu.

One of the many benefits of staying at one of the hotels of the Disneyland Resort is Extra Magic Hour,* an early admission option available to registered hotel guests every day of their hotel stay. All-new 2015 Honda Fit recognized for its affordability, practicality and engaging driving dynamics

TORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The 2015 Honda Fit has claimed a spot on the prestigious 2015 AUTOMOBILE All-Star list (automobilemag.com/2015AllStars). The brand’s editors, who judge each vehicle on its performance, features, and overall value, applauded the Fit (automobiles.honda.com/fits) for its refined powertrain, excellent ergonomics, and fun-to-drive dynamics.

“The Fit remains the benchmark for packaging, versatility and value in its segment,” said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda automobile division for American Honda. “AUTOMOBILE’s  recognition of the Honda Fit validates our ongoing efforts to deliver best-in-class vehicles for our customers, and our continued investment in North American manufacturing.”

“We’d argue there isn’t a better car on the road today starting under $20,000 than the Honda Fit,” said AUTOMOBILE editor-in-chief Mike Floyd. “It’s fun to hustle around, especially when its updated engine is mated to its new six-speed manual. It’s pulled off adding more rear seat and cargo area—all while decreasing its overall footprint. And it’s available with more options and safety features than ever before. The Fit is still very much go, and it’s a 2015 AUTOMOBILE All-Star as a result.”

This win for the 2015 Fit marks the 20th time a Honda has been named an AUTOMOBILE All-Star since the award’s inception in 1990. Past Honda All-Stars, in addition to the Fit, include the Civic, Element, Prelude, Odyssey, Accord and Ridgeline.

Sears New “Reserve It” Service Lets Shop Your Way® Members Shop Online, Try On and Purchase In-Store

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Illinois, Nov. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Sears, a leading integrated retailer, has introduced “Reserve It” – a free service that lets Shop Your Way members simply identify apparel and footwear items in-stock at their local store, easily place them on hold and then try them on in-store. The new shopping convenience is the latest in a series of integrated retail innovations Sears has introduced since last holiday season.

“Time is often the greatest gift one can receive during the busy holiday season and Reserve It gives our members that gift,” said Leena Munjal, senior vice president, Sears Holdings. “Reserve It combines the digital world of ecommerce with in-store shopping – including the ability to touch, feel and try on clothes and footwear – to streamline and personalize the experience for our members like never before.”

How it works:

  • Members log in to their Shop Your Way account on Sears.com and select their local Sears store; apparel and footwear product searches will now show items in-stock at that specific store.
  • The member clicks on the product, style and size they want, then selects “Reserve In Store.” Members will receive an email and/or text notification to alert them when their products are ready to try on.
  • Upon arrival at their local Sears, the member will find their item personally labeled and ready to try on at the Reserve It rack located in the apparel section (reserved items are held for 48 hours). The member can then complete their purchase at a nearby register.

“Reserve It is a more efficient way to shop for clothes and shoes,” said Munjal. “Instead of browsing through racks to find your size, color and style, you’ve already browsed with a few clicks online, and when you arrive at the store your selections are hand-picked, ready and waiting for you to try on.”

The Reserve It launch comes as projections from the National Retail Federation reveal that online shopping will hit an all-time high this holiday – 56 percent of shoppers plan to shop online.*

Since pioneering buy online, pickup in-store 13 years ago, Sears has introduced a series of multi-channel shopping options that connect the online and in-store shopping experience. Along with Reserve It, members and customers have three more new ways to shop using Sears integrated retail options this holiday, including:

  • In-Vehicle Pickup, Return and Exchange in Five – a game changer and retail industry first. The service, powered by the Shop Your Way mobile app, lets members pick up, return or exchange their purchases for free – guaranteed in five minutes or less – without ever leaving their vehicle. See store or sears.com for further details.
  • Expanded Free Store Pickup – an online/in-store collaboration that allows members to pick up sears.com or kmart.com orders at any of each other’s stores – more than 2,000 locations nationwide. The service gives shoppers more convenient access to an even wider selection of their favorite brand-name products.
  • Shop Your Way Member Assist – uniquely leverages the online and mobile channels that members already use to give them quick and convenient access to the knowledge and expertise of local store associates. It offers a more personalized service experience and is another convenience for Shop Your Way members – enabling them to talk to knowledgeable sales associates remotely.
